I got to the class just fine, no glitches, no problems. the garmin did not like the path I was suggested to go by someone familiar with the construction issues, and didn't agree with me til I actually got ON 794 at Layton, up til 100 feet from it, it was still telling me to U-turn and go the other way... Coming home tho... 2 hours with no air, because I trusted the goofy thing, thinking it was helping me avoid some problem (accident, etc), ) I blindly did what it told me to, as I was unfamiliar with that side of MIlwaukee, it took me from the way east side to near Froedtert and told me I was 3 minutes from home... I do not live out there, stupid garmin.. but I do know my way home from that area.. geesh... today, I study the map and get my geography memorized
Those Garmins can be trouble. They aren't always up to date on major road changes. It might have been a little more helpful if you plugged it in and updated it? It makes me nuts to keep hearing, "recalculating...."
Less than a week until I'm back to work. I did get some stuff done over the summer, but it is never enough. The most important thing, I got some rest and finally feel like I'm mostly beyond that pneumonia. Being back on my feet all day might prove otherwise. Still unsure where I'll be and what I'll be doing. Gotta love the uncertainty. That also makes me nuts.
GPS is a wonderful thing if it works. I was looking for my SIL's new clothing shop and was on a main st. not too far from it. That silly thing had me go on the highway to the east side and I finally gave up and came home. But they also work wonders.
This (unbelievably) is our first week all summer where no rain is in the forecast. Usually this starts in June. What a summer!
The bad thing with GPS it will not tell you about construction and roads that are closed. LM- If you come across that problem again let Drew and I know because we have been all over Milwaukee already and have a good idea how to get you back to Racine.
I think I told you about my mom losing her trailer and land last year. She had another bad day yesterday. My mom is living with my younger sister in Shawano Wi and I don't know if it was a tornado or just a real bad storm with 75 mph winds but a tree split in half and went through the roof of my sister and mom mobile home last night. My mom is alright she has a bump on her head and they both went to stay with my older sister in Appleton. I was trying to get a hold of my son because he lives in Shawano too. He finally called me back and he was under the stairs with the kids. You can ask Drew I was freaking out when I could not get a hold of him. The way I found out about this is my older sister posted about it on facebook and Drew seen it and told me to call my mom. My son took pictures and I will post them on here later.
THB, I hate storms. I saw the bunch that was headed that way on radar. Quite a line of storms. The area between Fon-Du-Lac and Green Bay Is always ripe for storms.
My Weather Channel app kept chiming throughout the "storm" we had today. First, it warned that the storm was coming. (it was dark out) Then,it warned there would be lightning. (I could hear thunder in the distance) Then it warned there might be hail and small objects could become mobile. (never happened) Finally, it chimed that there was potential for flooding. (I was never in any danger, lol) The grass needed the water. It was a good thing.
No wonder we're all stressed out. I used to enjoy a little storm passing through. Now, I need to be freaking ON ALERT! I don't want to change the settings because if there is a tornado, or othr real threat, I want to know.... (THB, sorry about your family situation)

ReplyDeleteToad- I think it has been about six years since a bad storm like that had gone through that area. usually the worst areas are Oshkosh and Fond Du Lac.

So sorry about your mom's troubles, THB. That line of storms headed right towards us yesterday and then evaporated just as it approached our area.
ReplyDeleteI don't use a GPS. I can get lost all by myself.
kk, be careful back at work. Nut jobs are shooting people in schools every day now. It's the "in" thing. What a world we live in.
Poor THB Hope they are all ok! Thinking of you!!!
ReplyDeletePrayers sent their way!
Thank you everyone!
