Did you Know:
One of my
favorite candies is “Smarties”.
Smarties are
produced by Smarties Candy Company Union Township, Union County, New Jersey, and
produced by their Newmarket, Ontario, plant.
Certain times
of the year, such as Halloween, the US plant cannot produce enough for the candy
lovers here so they import them from their Canadian plant.
The only differences
between the two are the candies made in Canada it says “Made in Canada” under
the name Smarties on the wrapper
I like Smarties, too. If I had a lot of them, I'd put a whole roll in my mouth at once. It makes my false teeth ache to think of that.
ReplyDeleteCanadian smarties was a better value in years past.
ReplyDeleteNow the Canadian dollar is the same value as the U.S. dollar.
Investing in the Loonie has been very profitable in the last year.
OH CANADA......
I used Smarties as a substitute when I quit smoking... 29 years ago. I still like them. Lately, even though I don't often eat candy, I've been hooked on Runts.
ReplyDeleteHere they have candies named smarties as well but they are nothing like the smarties there..
ReplyDeleteDuring the Smarties Prohibition Era, Canadian Smarties were the only real ones that you could get (if you were lucky). USA production of Smarties was halted by federal law.
ReplyDeleteThat led to many clandestine "Smarties" factories that churned out fake Smarties by the billions. Their ingredients were inferior, if not outright poisonous, and their production was unsupervised.
Sometimes the imitation Smarties made people sick. Sometimes they made people blind. Sometimes they made people dead. It all depended on the "mix."
Thank God that the people saw the light and made Smarties legal again.
Damnit, now I'm going to have to get some.
Menards kills me they have all that good candies in the main isle and now coming up on halloweenie they are really stocked up.
ReplyDeleteGuess who bought a bag of Smarties with their groceries today? Gee, thanks SER.
