1. Miracle on 34th St.
2. I try to have a shot of Akvavit on Christmas Eve at Midnight In honor of my Father and Heritage.
3. My dad passed on Dec 3rd 1971, and Christmas that year was very depressing. My mom spent most of It in her bedroom. It was not a great time.
4. Most of my Grandchildren, except the ones that keep looking for MORE presents. I guess thats not uncommon, but I feel sad at those moments. Actually only one of them out of eight does It.
1) What is your favorite Christmas movie?
Missed most of them because of
the chores I must do. But I would say HOME ALONE made me laugh hard.
2) What Christmas traditions do you have?
Just the usual ones.... here is how it goes
Spend too much money on gifts, don't get any back.
Cook for a few days... no one brings anything extra.
Struggle and fret to put it all together on time...swig down some vodka. No one is in the kitchen helping, just milling around drinking MY vodka.
Food is served and guests gobble
it down in 5 minutes. They start ripping open their presents... I swig down more vodka.
They all leave, I clean up for 2-3hours, maybe swig down more vodka.
I am usually thankful that I made it thru another year. I am leaving for good before another Christmas happens...for sure.
3) What is one Christmas memory can you share?
Found out my man of 15 years was cheating on me. The relationship ended Christmas Eve.
4) What put you into a Christmas mood?
I am not in the mood because of PTCSD (Post Traumatic Christmas Stress Disorder)... it will never leave! Alcohol, meds, yoga...nothing touches it.
1. Sadly, I've never watched most of the classics. I keep telling myself I need to take the time, and poof, the season is gone. Home Alone or The Santa Clause are both favorites, tho I think The Santa Clause 2 is better
2. cookies and family together Christmas eve
3. none just out
4. putting the tree and decorations up, then the winter blues battle for my attention til mid January
1. It's a Wonderful Life which is on tonight. Have to say though that White Christmas and Holiday Inn are tops too.
2. The best traditions is when I would come up there. The entire family would get together on Christmas Eve (still do). I miss that.
3. Again, Christmas Eve.
4. Like LM, I Love putting out the decorations and enjoying them.
Maybe I over exaggerated a bit....
I swig vodka only 2 or 3 times.
My daughter brings chips and dip.
Dinner is over in 10 minutes.
I don't do yoga.
1) The Christmas Gift, Miracle on 34th Street and the Peanuts Christmas. I have seen some new ones this year too. I love watching the Christmas movies when they start.
2) Being with Drew's family Christmas Eve and my family Christmas Day. I still do a separate Christmas with my mom and younger sister and also with my kids early Christmas Eve. Another tradition I do is the kids, Drew and I all get an ornament in out stockings. I can't forget the Christmas Cookies I make.
3) The reason I go and take all the Christmas light pictures is because my dad would take us kids around to see them. This is his favorite time of year and I miss my dad so much at Christmas. That is why I enjoy sharing the pictures with everyone.
4) Decorating the house, going and seeing the Christmas lights and listening to the Christmas music. Then going up north to see the family!
I hope everyone stays safe today and has a great day. I am going to finish cookies today!
1) It's a Wonderful Life.
2) None. As a child, we opened presents on Christmas Eve and then presents form Santa on Christmas morning.
3) Dad coming home drunk and falling into the Christmas tree.
4) Christmas lights. I would say Christmas songs, too, but they play them to death in the stores.
Thank you for the quiz, drew. Merry Christmas.
1. All the oldies mentioned above and Charlie Brown's Christmas, even though it is a short film.
2. We did St. Nick night with our stockings. Like orbs, we opened family gifts on Christmas Eve and Santa gifts the next morning.
3. I remember being 6 years old and putting together the pieces about Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy the week before Christmas. I felt very betrayed by the magnitude that the adults went to with the story. I also asked about Jesus and God.
4. Usually when I'm done with the shopping.
BLB, your follow up disclaimer was hilarious.
BLB, THAT my dear friend Is the BEST description of my past Christmas experiences I have EVER read. I can't imagine another poor soul exists besides myself.
The ONLY part I didn't have happen was the cheating.
I also will forever try to burn into my head the PTCSD. As a matter of fact, I may have some shirts made with It In BOLD letters.
Bah fucking HUMBUG. You made my entire day.
KK, YOU did Old St. Nick? Now that's got to be exciting.

1) Probably The Santa Clause.
2) Since I've been with Tender Heart, it has been Christmas at my folks, Christmas Day with hers.
3) I have many... But one stands out. My younger sister waking me up in the middle of the night, telling me that she got a hamster for Christmas. Not believing her, I just rolled over and went back to sleep. The next morning three hamsters in an aquarium.
4) Because of the stress around the holidays, I tend to be a bit of a scrooge. I usually snap out of it by the time I get Up North.
