I didn't know. Makes sense as most people would rather wait until the big crush is over. Unless you know specifically what you want, why go into a store that is packed with people. Not me. The two stores I went to were Michaels Crafts and Steinmart. No big crowds, but I didn't get there until almost 10:00 a.m. Knew what I wanted, just didn't find it.
There's never enough clerks for the customers. This is a problem all year long. Often when I'm waiting in a line I think about the propaganda pictures we were shown as children depicting long lines of people waiting to get goods in Soviet Russia.
It's absurd, but merchants will make you wait in long lines to give them money.
