**Due to the response this will be opened up to all grades k-5.***
My sister-in-law is a Kindergarden teacher at Mitchell School. As you know the school was devastated by a fire. Unified is trying to figure out where to educate the kids, but where ever that is they have to start from scratch most likely.
My wife and I are looking to pick up some supplies to get her class back on its feet. Crayons, paper, Kingergarten reading level books, and basic supplies are needed. Most kids at Mitchell are not able to be provided these basic supplies by their families, so it comes out of the teacher’s own pockets most of the time.
If you feel you could help either by a cash donation or supplies to help these little ones get back to normal after their school has burned, please let me know. I would like to be able to present the supplies to her on Tuesday. (crayons,scissors,kleenex,hand sanitizer,pencils regular or the fat ones, plain white paper, kindergarten reading level books etc.)

My understanding is that Windpoint School (recently closed) will be used for the elementary levels. Meetings are being held today for the formal plan on how to proceed. There should be more information forthcoming on when that will occur and other details released.
The kindergarten area is probably the furthest away from the fire location in the elementary wing. Not sure how much damage that part of the school took. Smoke and cold could be an issue. Hopefully, all won't be lost from the classrooms. Yes, teachers often use their own funds to supply classrooms.

I have heard different. Cant say at this time what I have heard. Pipes bursting now is a big issue. This si starting to get some legs so we are expanding to all supplies for all grades. Cash is king however.
This gave me an idea. I will ask to set up a box for donations at my school. I personally have pencils, paper, crayons and folders to donate. Teachers will be a great resource for donations, as many have supplies on hand. The inter-school mail couriers might be able to deliver the collected goods.
Unified should set up a place(s) where the public can donate.
