good morning, all. snow is coming soon. I just read that thanks to the Arctic warming, we could be in for colder winters :( yes, plural... http://news.yahoo.com/jet-stream-shift-could-prompt-harsher-winters-scientists-132931128.html
We had a beautiful day here of sunshine and temps in the mid to high 40s you would swear it was Spring here... I'm really sorry to hear about your terrible winter there, gotta say for once i'm glad I'm not there...
Had a fun day at work today as well as we had a beer tasting. I'm not really into beer but it was interesting..
Just got in off the roads. Most people are travelling slowly. Visibility is the worst of it. Lots of blowing and accumulating snow that freezes to your windshield. If you don't have to be out, don't. If you do, travel slowly. As SER said, nothing we haven't seen before.
I had one of those fasting blood tests today. When I got there, the technician informed me that Medicare will only pay for one PSA test per calendar year. I'm three weeks shy of that, so they won't cover the cost. She suggested that I return in three weeks, but these tests were ordered by my doctor for my appointment with him next week. I'd have to change that, too, and he's always backed up, I signed a piece of paper and said let 'er rip. If Medicare won't cover it, neither will my supplemental insurance, so it's just another bill to add to the pile.
Insurance companies now dictate my health care. My gastroenterologist found the perfect drug for my stomach problems, but my prescription insurance doesn't cover it and I can't afford $80 more dollars per month. So I get sick instead.
When you see your doctor next week, tell him to pay for your PSA test, because MOST doctors don't even rely on, or order them anymore. Seriously, ask him about the information they get from a PSA.

Happy snow! The wind is the worst.

End of rant.
P.S. They told me that Medicare would cover the PSA test if I have prostate cancer. So I said, "Tell them I have prostate cancer."
No such luck...
