From JSOnline:
"Not all Midwest cities fell into that category. Racine was among the 'Fading Cities' in the 2012 version — cities with erosion in both
manufacturing jobs and measures of well-being."
. . . . .
"'Racine was once a booming manufacturing community,' the chapter devoted to that community says. But manufacturing's percentage of jobs fell from 49% in 1970 to 24% in 2010."

WELL, That a fine "How do you do" No surprise though. All the GREAT manufacturing companies left, and the few that remained, or came In certainly couldn't compensate for the loss. Frankly I suggest that leadership at the top In Racine from the 80s on failed their city. Now the good part. People say I need to make suggestions for improvement In OUR city of Mauston, instead of just complaining, but In truth, It would take an act of GOD. Racine Is In the same boat.
You never have to make suggestions for improvement if you are going to criticize government. These thieving political piles of poop ran for office on their grand ideas. Why the hell should I do their job for them? They fall on their faces because of their lies and then they want us to bail them out. Bullshit!
My mechanic never told me how to landscape and I never told him how to fix cars. Do your damn jobs! If you can't do it, resign.
The study is a joke - right?
Page 10:
"Racine and Gary are among a number of cities in a region that stretches from Milwaukee through Northwest Indiana that leverage Lake Michigan as a resource to develop fresh water technology companies. Racine in particular is emerging as a leader in the field of aquaponics – breeding fish in fish farms in a sustainable manner to alleviate a projected world-wide shortfall in seafood."
Where is the EVIDENCE? Did Dickert provide the statement to the Writer?
More Fun, and Lies:
"In places like Racine and Pontiac, leaders assert that unions insulated industrial workers from the early indications that lifelong learning and skill development were becoming more important than seniority. Many of the older, experienced workers in these cities, displaced by the economy, find themselves needing to go back to school, even to obtain jobs that pay lower wages."
You have to have jobs to train for! Racine's New Economy, Liquor Stores, Fast Food, Dollar Stores, Pay-Day Loan Stores and Crime.
Two types of criminals, those who rob businesses and homes with a mask and a gun, and those who rob with an elected position and Property tax. It's the elected one who are more dangerous.
