"According to the owner’s and family of the La Tapatia restaurant located at 1951 Mead Street in Racine, they will no longer participate in Racine’s 4th of July Parade. They posted an announcement on their facebook page to let readers and supporters know.
“'Our experience in this years 4th of July was by far the worse experience ever. Out of years that we have attended. We attempted to have an amazing time but seem to be harassed by the director of the parade Betty. Who seemed to be following us through the whole parade yelling at our children. Wanting our horses to run in which made our horse fall during our walk in this parade. She was by far the rudest director ever yelling and screaming at us and putting her hand in our face stating exactly 'You will not be invited next year' yet another representative Wendy stated 'you will never be invited again' So we are letting our customers know that we will never attend @cityofracinefourthofjuly this was the last year we will be there. We want to thank each and everyone that watched us and allowed us to be a part of your 4th of July. God bless always! — at Fourth of July Parade Downtown Racine.'
"Many residents are upset and outraged about this and many comments from hundreds of people have shown support. According to may people, they specifically attended the parade to see La Tapatia’s dancing horses. I see this has made it to all the local news sites. What a shame that there were bad feelings. I'm sure the irritation was felt on both sides, however, it sounds like it was handled very badly.
This has been a nice display in the parade that many have enjoyed. I sure hope they can smooth this over, give the performers the space they need to keep the horses safe, and that the show returns next year. It should also be a learning lesson for the parade officials. For some children, this may be the only time they get to see live horses.
It's no secret, Racine is a shity little city filled with racism and unfair treatment. It all starts at the top with Dickert and city hall and trickles right down to the parade. It's fucking sad.
HERE IS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED FROM START TO FINISH -
- Mayor Dickert rigged a contract for his friends at Skies Fall Media to takeover CAR25 through lies and corruption
- When the scam was revealed to all, and no revenues were generated, Skies Fall wanted out of the deal
- Mayor Dickert and Tom Friedel lied about the contract and extended it for 60 days to pay them even more, trying to work out deal for prom and the parade
- Mayor Dickert's other friend Tom Rolfson used his position on the cable commission to try to takeover CAR25 and city events including a backroom deal to film post prom, including hiring one of the old CAR25 guys for his private business
- Lots of new equipment was purchased by the city to be used for prom and the parade, which was likely used for profit by Tom Rolfson and Racine TV
- Mayor Dickert's other friends Mick Wynhoff, Rob Krug, and Monte Osterman leverage CAR25 for their own benefit and to push Rootworks, after giving free and illegal advertising to Mary Osterman to promote her hat stores
- Since prom was such a disaster, they didn't want the same thing to happen with the parade so they hired Channel 24 to do the production
- Either Channel 24 or the City mysteriously hired Mike Federer and OJ Aguilar who was a Skies Fall Media employee to coordinate this new parade scam - how were they paid and was that approved by city council?
- Channel 24 was likely not cheap, and with only 5 sponsors, they had to limit costs and time
- They cut the list down saying it was for quality but in reality it was to cut the costs and time
- They rushed everyone through in order to avoid additional costs from Channel 24, and were rude and unprofessional to others while patting themselves on the back
- The cable commission also hasn't met in months leading up to the parade, even though they were involved in these backroom deals
Who paid for all of this? We did.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED FOR RUINING YET ANOTHER RACINE EVENT ALL BECAUSE OF DICKERT'S CORRUPT ADMINISTRATION.
