But nobody was promising anything. It reminded me of my early days of AA. I made a self-imposed rule back then: if I don't know what to do, do nothing.
I didn't know what more I could do about the computer problems. I figured out workarounds. Then, suddenly, about 10 minutes ago, they started working again. I had done nothing.

Could be there was some update that wasn't agreeing with some configuration and the next update resolved it.... that, or maybe Mme. Z. finally felt you suffered enough for whatever it was you did to set her temper aflame? ;>
Daddy Orbs- I am glad your computer is working right again. I do hope Madame Z did not have anything to do with the way your computer just went wacky on you. I know how she likes to put her spells on people who are not nice to her.
kk, I thought of the same thing. Thing is, Firefox always tells you when it updates. Maybe it was some other program.
