The video sure looks incriminating. It was ridiculous for the person to engage in whatever behavior led to the stand off... but then to put their dog out in the middle of it was really stupid. I can't see why the police felt they needed to kill the dog, but I wasn't there.
I believe we might just need cameras on all police officers, to keep them safe and to justify or negate the need for extreme force.
I agree with you on the camera issue. We are seeing more and more municipalities utilizing the body camera on law enforcement. It protects everyone.
There are so many good law officers out there, but it seems, we are only hearing about the bad decisions made by a few. This would keep things in the proper perspective...
This is a very sad situation. The poor dog took the punishment of its owner's bad decisions!
In some cases it is wrong to shoot the dog but. ..If I where a cop I wouldn't want to deal with an idiot and a dog at the same time.
SER, The answer to your problem would be to SHOOT the man. In our POLICE STATE It seems the Police need to fire their guns for whatever reason. I hope they get answers, but I doubt It will make a difference. My HOMETOWN has gone to SHIT.
Seems like this situation got way out of hand over some dog poop.
This guy apparently had a history of nasty behavior. Why test the waters? I think I would have just waited and , simply shoveled the poop up and properly disposed of it. Not worth all this.
This dog is dead because tempers got out of hand.

The FBI, ATF, DEA and the rest, that is the first thing they do when they enter a home for a drug bust or something, shoot the dog, then they'll taze the asshole, it should be the other way around.
I don't think the police shoot enough people. We hear all the 'bad' shootings but never the justifiable ones.
Beejay mentioned wait. I'm sure the guy will change his mind but what is the wait period? The asshole probably had a 100 people tied up when you look at law enforcement to close of the area, swat teams, paramedics standing by, oh I'm sure there also has to be a preacher in the crow.
If the guy has a history of nasty behavior; does it make his life less valuable? I think i would have to say yes.
SER,I think if the neighbor knew of his violent behavior, she was treading on thin ice by engaging him in this argument over dog poop! Good golly...but to be honest, I think it's easy to stand on the sidelines and say what should have been done. Obviously, if the woman had ignored the pooping dog, there would have been no issue. But, that's one of those "could have, should have" situations. Crazy people.
Arguments with neighbors are never a good idea. Back In the late 60s. pm the 4th of July a man had an argument with his neighbor over some stupid thing like walking on his grass or something? If I remember they lived on Olive St. near Mitchell School. Anyhow the man went In his house got a shotgun, shot the man In their own house, and chased the wife down the driveway and killed her. Their name Is on the tip of my tongue, but I can't read It.
I lived in Milwaukee then, Toad, but I half remember that. Scary situations dealing with drunks.
You can see the video upright here: http://www.cbs58.com/story/27184314/dog-killed-during-standoff-in-racinetext The pet dog enters from the right, pauses, and starts to return to the house.
