"Wisconsin drunken driving group members resign"
From Madison.com:
"MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Four members of a working group studying ways to reduce drunken driving in Wisconsin — a state with notoriously lax laws — resigned Thursday and said bar and tavern owners have too much influence on the committee and are not interested in actually combatting the problem.
"The task force members said in their resignation letter to the head of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation that there was no willingness to correct errors, contributions from doctors and other experts were ignored, and 'procedural roadblocks' were put in place by state officials working to update the highway safety plan.
"Randy Romanski, safety programs chief at DOT who was coordinating the group, was not available to comment. A department spokeswoman said she was working on a response to the resignation letter.
"The resigning task force members said in their letter to DOT Secretary Mark Gottlieb that the only named non-governmental partner working with the department on the plan is the Tavern League of Wisconsin, which represents bar and tavern owners.
"'This group has — at best — a serious conflict of interest,' the letter said."

"OLD people have problems that you haven't even considered yet!"
From Mary:
An 85-year-old man was requested by his Doctor for a sperm count as part of
his physical exam.
The doctor gave the man
a jar and said, 'Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow.'
The next day the
85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor's office and gave him the jar, which
was as clean and empty as on the previous day.
The doctor asked what
happened and the man explained, 'Well, doc, it's like this -- first I tried
with my right hand, but nothing. Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing.
'Then I asked my wife
for help. She tried with her right hand, then with her left, still nothing. She tried with her mouth, first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out,
still nothing.
'We even called up
Arleen, the lady next door and she tried too, first with both hands, then an
armpit, and she even tried squeezin' it between her knees, but still
nothing..'
The doctor was shocked!
'You asked your neighbor?'
The old man replied,
'Yep, none of us could get the jar open.'
Strengths or weaknesses?
Quick question for ya'all -
what do you consider your greatest strength (s)
and greatest weakness (s) ?
This is what I'm wrestling with at the moment,
thought I'd throw the question out to all your folks :)
Dear Madame Zoltar
Hello, my wonderful wildflowers! How are you?
We’re finally getting some sun, but every perennial suffered some winter
damage. Dead shrubs and trees are everywhere. We’re already into June, but a lot of plants
are barely blooming, if at all.
My, Racine has
been hopping with news this week.
The Skies Fall Media/CAR25, Raine.tv and Belle.tv imbroglio
continues imbroglioing along. After all,
it is only our money.
Mr. Curt Johnson apparently has agreed to a plea deal and
his sentencing is this Friday. I very
much doubt he’ll receive jail or prison time.
I wonder if some of the robberies on the north side were
copycat crimes. I think one of the perpetrators
has shot into a ceiling a couple or three times, but never have they killed
before, and so needlessly. They had
their money. Get the hell out.
Thank you everyone involved in the capture of Jesus Arroyo. It’s great how our community comes together
in times of need.
The reward on the bar robbers keeps going up and up. Sooner or later, someone will rat them
out.
We’re well into our festival season in Racine. Keep your eyes on strangers and your wallet. If it looks to good to be true, then it is too good to be true. It’s such a different world from the one I
grew up in. I dislike the wariness and
vigilance we must extend all the time in dealing with other human beings.
Of course, you’re always welcome here. My readers, Irregular and otherwise, are my
second family. I’m always gladdened by visitors.
Which way, Racine? Ask madamezoltar@jtirregulars.com
Happy 6th anniversary to the JTI. We should be proud of ourselves. I love all of you, my dears. And don’t talk to strangers in handcuffs and
belly chains. Galeanthropy!

"Jesus, what not to expect from a name!"
From Racine County Corruption:
"Did Jesus really commit a murder?
"Did Jesus really commit a murder?
"Well it looks like the present day Jesus Arroyo might have.
"Through confidential informants, we
have been informed that Jesus Arroyo may be linked to the tavern robbery
and murder last week."

"The Belle Harbor Boondoggle"
From Racine Exposed:
"Yep – another Racine County Boondoggle. One of a growing list of many. If there was any justice for the taxpayer, some of the County Officials involved in this Boondoggle would be facing criminal charges. But the voters have forgotten, the names and faces have changed, and a new group of Racine County and City of Racine Officials are selling “Root Works“, along with County Ownership and Operation of ReefPoint Marina as the next get-rich quick scheme; and IT IS a get-rich quick scheme, for friends, cronies, and the politically connected, but NOT for the taxpayer. It is just another political wealth-transfer scheme and public rip-off."

"Wisconsin’s bar-to-grocery store ratio puts the rest of the country to shame"
From The Washington Post:
By Abby Phillip
"Drive around the state of Wisconsin and you're probably more likely to come across a bar than a grocery store.
"For Wisconsinites, this probably comes as no surprise, given the state's well-documented culture of drinking. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel launched a multi-part series titled 'Wasted in Wisconsin,' which documented just how drunk Wisconsinites tend to be, and how often they don't know it.
"Stacked up against the rest of the country, however, the picture is pretty stark. Wisconsin's bars outnumber their grocery stores almost three to one, according to Google data mapped by FlowingData's Nathan Yau."

I'll drink to that.
No, not really
