I remember well, and how awesome it was when electric typewriters came along!

When I began working for The Travelers, I had a manual. The shift key would stick. About three years later, the first electric was introduced to our department. The next step was a programmable typewriter. Finally, our first computer. I believe it was an IBM XT. Ah, the good old days.

I remember one of those. And the IBM Selectric. Don't forget "white out".

I could be wrong but I believe it was former Monkee Mike Nesmith's mother who invented it. From what I've read it was one of the reasons he didn't tour with them as he didn't need the money.

I remember typing up research papers, sitting at the dining room table, late into the early morning hours. Carbon paper. Terrible correction tape that did not cover the error. Teachers counting and marking you down for any typos or spacing errors, or incorrect notations and references. I remember ripping the onion skin out of the typewriter near the bottom of the sheet in sheer frustration and having to do it over, AGAIN.

My dad had an antique black, beautiful typewriter we used. The "R" key stuck and had to be manually brought back down to the rack. It was torture to be told your document had to be typewritten.

6 years ago today little Maia was born, and became the first official second generation irregular. Many of you got to meet her when she was only a few months old.. Time flies for sure..
