This substitute should not be allowed in a classroom without additional training. You never engage in demeaning attacks on students or stoop to their level of misbehavior. While the girl is acting out, defiant, and using very inappropriate language, he is just as guilty (or probably more guilty) by continuing to engage with her. He needs to call for assistance to have her removed. He has a lot of options available to him to stop the confrontation and disturbance. I'm appalled and embarrassed to witness this.
That isn't saying that substitutes don't have a rough job. They are open game for the students who have an agenda. The kids can sniff out weakness.

I just went back and finished watching the entire video again. I stopped it before the real name calling and hands-on fighting took place. OMG!
