I am sad to say that I have witnessed abhorrent behavior like this, especially when a substitute is manning a class. It is not the norm, but.... these things happen more than you'd believe. People harken back on the way it was when they were in school, with an obedient class with students sitting quietly. If people knew what the job was really like, they would not be so hard on educators. By the way, subs make approximately 100 bucks a day for the full day, with often over 125-150 different kids at the middle and high school level. That tidy sum is before taxes.
