I went out to look at the original story and bam, I got virus warnings all over my computer. I unplugged it and everything seems to be okay.
I just did the same, but no virus warnings.

I didn't hear about the gas pump hacking scam. Although, I have been receiving the "call from Microsoft" that my computer is sending dangerous virus warning messages to them... just press 1 to speak to a technician." Um... NO! I may be blonde, but I wasn't born yesterday!
