"Racine Police searching for couple and children concerning endangered child case"
From RacineUncovered:
"The Racine Police Department along with Child Protective Services is actively searching for Amanda Ibarra Gasca and Ivan Ruiz aka Vante Rojas. Both parties are wanted for questing in an endangered child investigation case. The mother should be traveling with three children ages 10, 8, and almost 2 years old, along with her boyfriend Ivan Ruiz. They should be operating a tan or gold 2004 Ford Explorer with Illinois temporary plates.
"Officers have attempted to locate the children and indications are that the adults could possibly be avoiding contact with law enforcement.
"Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing, Endangered, and Exploited Children has issued an alert for the mother and children.
"Racine Police Investigators are interested in any additional information that anyone may have about the location of these subjects, or their children. Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are urged to call the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at 262-635-7756."

"Officials continue to disagree over release of man in puppy death"
From The Journal Times.com:
KRISTEN ZAMBO kristen.zambo@journaltimes.com
"RACINE — Call it the case of the dueling documents.
"And what it boils down to is whether bond documents for a Racine man released from the Racine County Jail last week reflect a $2,500 cash bond, or $2,000.
"His defense attorney contends only $2,000 was posted for his release, and he shouldn't have been set free because he still owed $500. Racine County’s sheriff staunchly maintains the document states $2,500 was the bail price, and all $2,500 was paid – leading to Fred C. Gossett’s rightful release."
"Gossett, 52, formerly of Park City, Illinois, near Waukegan, allegedly stomped on the puppy in a Racine home in 2012 -- with his son -- because the dog’s owner owed the younger Gossett $13. His defense attorney said in court on Wednesday that he called her Monday to inform her he wrongly had been released from jail because he still owed $500.
"Assistant State Public Defender Adrienne Moore, who heads the state Public Defender’s trial office in Racine, stated via text message on Thursday that 'the jail made a mistake' in releasing him.
“'Mr. Gossett's bond was changed from $2,000 (in 2013) to $2,500 (on Nov. 12) by the (judge). While he had previously paid $2,000, he had not paid the additional $500 to get out of jail so the jail clearly made a mistake.'
"Mistake? 'Not according to how my supervisors interpret the court documents,' Racine County Sheriff Chris Schmaling stated in a text message Thursday.
“'My jail supervisors book in and release 10,000 prisoners on average each and every year. I will take their word over a defense lawyer who failed to get the client to show up to court and has no experience doing bookings and releases like we do in a jail setting,' Schmaling stated."

A puppy stomper, eh?
What sort pf sick, disturbed, twisted mind does these things?
Imagine, he already has a son and is teaching him violence. At what point do we interfere with another's actions?
I think he needs neutering himself and a restraining order keeping him away from animals.

"Roundabout entrance cleared after semi strikes two vehicles"
From The Journal Times.com:
February 03, 2015 1:52 pm • Journal Times staff
"RACINE - A semi truck briefly blocked the Sixth Street entrance to the Downtown roundabout Tuesday afternoon after striking two vehicles, according to police.
"The semi was apparently trying to park on Sixth Street just before the roundabout when it backed into a city bus, according to police on the scene.
"The impact broke off the bus' side mirror, and the semi also reportedly skimmed the side mirror of another car parked on Sixth Street, police said.
"The westbound Sixth Street roundabout entrance by City Hall, 730 Washington Ave., was closed before 2 p.m., although the roundabout itself remained open. The entrance was cleared by 2:15 p.m."

I can't wait for the gangsters and drug dealers to encounter the proposed roundabout at Douglas Ave. and Hamilton St. I bet that within a week, a vehicle will get air from driving right through the middle of the thing.

"Roundabout approved; city will pay extra $262,000 for traffic circle"
From The Journal Times.com:
"RACINE — The city will end up footing part of the bill for a roundabout at Hamilton Street and Douglas Avenue when a partial reconstruction of Highway 32 takes place in 2017.
"The City Council voted 7-5 on Tuesday night at City Hall, 730 Washington Ave., to pick up $262,612 of the cost for putting in the traffic circle after state transportation officials ruled the project unwarranted. Aldermen Melissa Kaprelian-Becker, Mike Shields, Eddie Diehl, Ron Hart and Q.A. Shakoor II, voted against the move."

Another colossal waste of tax dollars. I've driven through that intersection many, many times. A roundabout is uncalled for. Maybe the police who sit and talk in the parking lot on the southeast corner could do some traffic control?

Jupiter and the Full Moon and a Quick Timelapse
Jupiter rose near the full Moon last night so I thought I would post a pic from my place in Tucson.
Last night, I made a quick timelapse from some shots I took at Kitt Peak a couple of weeks ago with a Lensbaby 5.8mm fisheye lens. I wish I had let it go longer since I like what I got...I really need to get a second camera so I feel better about tying one up all night!
Dear Madame Zoltar
Hello, my chili beanies!
How are you? Have you unstuck
yourselves from the storm? Any damage
done? I heard there was a foot of snow
in Racine. Chicago
got half a foot more. The parking on side
streets becomes a real challenge. In
Chicago, amongst those who have to park on the street overnight, there is an
unspoken code that you don’t steal the spot of the guy who worked for an hour
and a half to clear his vehicle. People
put out kitchen chairs to reserve their spots.
I’m very lucky to be aided and abetted by Señor Zanza and Junior in snow
removal. Junior is a strong, young man
who can be wicked with the snow shovel.
The thing is, he needs an audience, primarily an audience of teen age
girls. All that Señor Zanza would say is
“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine in
the morning.” Miraculously, on the next
morning our sidewalk, driveway and apron were clear. Señor
Zanza was still sleeping. I quickly put on some clothes, a coat, hat and
boots. I went out and surveyed all of
our property. All driveway and walking
surfaces had been cleared, What got to
me is that there wasn’t a single mark left from a shovel, snow thrower, or a
plow. It’s like the snow melted in those
spots.
Sometimes Señor Zanza scares me a little.
How about those Patriots, huh? Calling a group of lying cheaters “Patriots”
is a slur. They’ll get a fine for
deflating their balls in a playoff game, but no one will take the title away
from them. The message to the kids: go
ahead and cheat. Our Super Bowl
“winners” do it.
We have some elections coming up shortly and it would serve
us all if we sought out information on the candidates. http://www.jtirregulars.com/2015/02/racine-county-eye-taxpayers-assoc.html Mr. Mayor Dickert’s office is up for
grabs. It would behoove us if we also
vote, for any side. And stop the
inevitable mudslinging. They should
serve free food at polling places. That would
swell the turnout. Free beer would be
even better, but who wants a bunch of drunks deciding our fate? Yuck!
It was Groundhog Day two days ago and our local groundhog
saw her shadow, so we get six more weeks of winter. That makes sense. If only someone would plug all of the
groundhog’s entrances and exits, he/she would be a no-show. Then what?
Everyone gets drunk and goes home, wondering what the next six weeks
hold in store for them.
Driving conditions were worsened by last night’s snow, so
please be careful out there. I curse
this weather. Every year I say I’m going
to move to a warmer climate. But I never do.
So, this year I’m not even going to try.
To heck with it. Maybe that way
I’ll actually do it.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read my blog. I appreciate every smile and tear. I love my readers. I’m proud of them.
Don’t forget to email me if you have any concerns: MadameZoltar@jtirregulars.com
Take it easy in the snow.
Allow more time. Slow down. (I fishtailed today. Oh my.) The snow makes everything more
difficult. Be careful and be mindful of
your surroundings. I don’t ever want to
lose an Irregular to a crash in snow.

"Greenfield paramedics in viral photo say 'shovel it forward'"
Greenfield Fire Department
Greenfield firefighters and paramedics returned to a patient’s home to shoel his driveway after they took the man to the hospital during Sunday’s snowstorm. The photo went viral on social media.
By Ashley Luthern of the Journal Sentinel
"A photo of Greenfield firefighters and paramedics shoveling a patient's driveway has gone viral with more than 1,600 shares and 21,000 "likes" on Facebook."Now, those same paramedics are using their newfound notoriety to 'shovel it forward.'
"A Greenfield fire engine and two paramedic units were dispatched to assist a man suffering a severe cardiac problem on Sunday as nearly a foot of snow blanketed the Milwaukee area, Fire Chief Jon Cohn said.
"Paramedics tended to the man, who had started shoveling his driveway before the emergency, and took him to Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center. The man's name and condition have not been released, per federal privacy laws.
"A family member wasn't able to get her car out of the driveway because of the snow and Greenfield police officers drove her to the hospital.
"On the way back to the fire station, paramedics talked about the worsening weather conditions and decided to pick up shovels from the station and return to the house to finish what the man had started, paramedic Tom Konieczka said.
"They cleared the driveway in 30 minutes.

"Acts of Kindness, Love Paying at Local McDonald’s"
From Racine County Eye:
By Heather Asiyanbi in Business, Community · February 2, 2015
"Racine-area McDonald’s are participating in the Pay with Love promotion, and customers from around the area are getting happily surprised when offered the opportunity to pay for their orders with an act of kindness or love.
"The restaurant chain advertised Pay with Love during the Super Bowl Sunday; the promotion runs until Valentine’s Day.
"Felina Coleman posted a video Monday of a woman calling her father and telling him that she loves him 'to the moon and back.'
"Coleman and her co-workers can be heard saying, 'Aww' and clapping for the customer.
"Each store will hand out 100 free meals at pre-determined times throughout the day, according to a story at Good News Insider.
"Official rules state that each location’s manager – the Lovin’ Lead – will choose the times between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. Acceptable acts of kindness could include fist bumping the cashier, calling someone to say 'I love you,' customers hugging their companions or blowing someone a kiss.
"A McDonald’s spokesperson told AOL the goal is to increase customer happiness."
