"City Administrator’s current contract expires Sunday"
"RACINE — It’s been three weeks since the City Council voted to extend City Administrator Tom Friedel’s contract, giving him a $10,000 raise over two years.
"But whether he will accept their offer, and stay on in the job still remains unclear, at least for the public at large.
"With his current contract slated to expire on Sunday, July 12, calls made to Friedel over the last few weeks have not been returned, and other city officials have remained mum on the issue.
"Asked about the situation on Monday, Deputy City Attorney Scott Letteney, who oversees the city’s human resources department, wrote in an email: 'it is not his place to address this issue.'
"A call made to Mayor John Dickert on Tuesday regarding the situation was not returned.
"An email sent to Friedel on Monday received an automatic reply that he would be out of the office until July 13.
"City Council President Dennis Wiser said Tuesday evening he was not aware of Friedel’s plans and there had been no updates from Friedel or the administration, as far as he knew.
"'I haven’t gotten anything to that effect,' he said.
"The relative silence that has fallen upon the issue in recent weeks comes after close to a month of contentious debate among aldermen about the city administrator position and its salary."

"Jacato Drive Gets a New Name, COP House Rededication"

"Citizens are invited to the official unveiling of new street signs that mark what many hope will be a turn toward the better; Jacato Drive will officially be renamed Anthony Lane Thursday during a special ceremony.
"Scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m., residents will first participate in re-dedicating the street and then have the opportunity to tour the new conference room at the newly named Ernest and Bernice Styberg COP House, 2437 Jacato Drive.
"Changing the name of Jacato Drive to Anthony Lane – for the original developer of the area – still needs to be approved by the Common Council, but the measure was expected to pass Tuesday."

They should rename it Beth David Drive for all the work she's done to help the area.

Hello, my rocks and rockettes! How are you?
It got so cold here that the furnace kicked on. The sun said, “summer,” but the wind said,
“Ha!” Looks like tonight’s going to be
the coolest of the week. It also looks
like a cool week, with a small chance of making it to 80 and plenty of chances
to make it into the 60’s. I hope that’s
the weather we get. I haven’t turned on
the air-conditioning yet this season.
And it IS the humidity more than the temperature. Unfortunately, I’ve inherited the Zoltar family’s
propensity to perspire profusely when the humidity is high. I have a friend who married a frog. He never sweats, no matter how hot it is and
how hard he’s working, he stays dry.
That’s why I’ve nicknamed him The Frog.
My friend is not pleased. I’ve
told her she must be doing something wrong because no matter how she kisses The
Frog, he never turns into a Prince Charming.
Or even Prince Pleasant. Say, you
don’t suppose she’s gay…?
The weather, the weather, the weather. It was more or less marvelous for the 4th
of July weekend; for the parades and fireworks and picnics and campouts. I’ve a different friend who says he’s already
watering part of his lawn and garden.
Certainly, we’ve had enough rain/sleet/snow/hail recently to maintain a
lawn. Right? Or do we need more summer deluges before the
season goes dormant in August and kicks back on in September? The weather is almost never perfect for
something you want to grow locally in season.
The long-range outlook is good as long as you can irrigate your
crops. That means your front and
backyards, and the fields, too.
No matter what we do or don’t do, prices for some items will
occasionally skyrocket, primarily due to weather-related shortages. I believe in sustainability and proper soil management. That minimizes the shortages, but there is
always a shortage of some kind, and customers wondering if it isn’t BS to boost
the bottom line. Who knows?
Unfortunately, I’ve become quite cynical about the
intentions of the average person. And I’ve definitely become more careful about
my surroundings at all times. I still go
where I used to go, but now I’m much more careful. Indoors and outdoors.
I’m much more vigilant of what I say and when and
where. I assume that politicians are
crooks. And as they climb the crooked
ladder to “success,” they are ruthless.
Murder, for sure, and probably torture, too. This is so unfortunate. I used to trust and respect politicians and
police. It took years of beating it out
of me to finally realize that it’s ALL about money, ALL of it. I was the naïve idiot who was the last to
figure it out. I wanted so much to
believe in at least some shred of decency in our government, but I found none. Here there is no honesty.
Oh, I’m sorry dears.
I was in a mood and decided to fix the government. There is always hope. There has to be. I do better when I don’t think about it too
much.
That’s just how I feel.

Raymond Wi Parade and Fireworks
Drew and I had taken my daughters half sister to the Raymond Parade and Fireworks on the 4th of July. We did not want to deal with the crowds around here so I looked to see what else was around the area and this is what we found. There was not a lot of people and it was a small parade only about an hour long but was very nice and they did have things for the kids to do after the parade. This was on 76th st and 5Mile Rd. in Raymond. I was even able to park in a field right by the road for the parade and for the fireworks we park right on 76th st and watch the fireworks from the car, they shot the fireworks off behind the school. We all really enjoyed it and I would go back there again too. Here are some pictures to share with everyone.
There is a lot more pictures from the parade with the tractors and more from the 5h club and snowmobile club. I just put some of the pictures. I hope everyone enjoys this.

"2 Wisconsin men die after falling into manure pit"

"Bloomer -- Two Wisconsin men have died after falling into a manure pit and being overcome by the gases.
"The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 5 p.m. Thursday in the Town of Woodmohr.
"According to the sheriff's office, Jeremy Seibel and Rodney Seibel of Bloomer were trying to retrieve a piece of equipment that fell into the manure pit. They were overcome by the gas and became unresponsive.
"First responders pulled them from the pit, but efforts to revive them were unsuccessful.
"The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health says manure pits can produce methane, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and ammonia.
"'The accumulation of these gases within the confined space of the manure pit can produce an oxygen-deficient, toxic, and/or explosive environment,' the agency says."
