More on Friends . . .

What do you do if some of your friends don't like some of your other friends?  It seems to be that it's one or the other; i.e., there appears to be no middle ground.  You have to choose between one group of friends and another group of friends.  Just like the entire country is polarized.  I talked to a friend who read an article in the New York Times about how current politics are destroying friendships.  I don't know what to do.

Making this choice has ripped me up emotionally.  I think I popped a blood vessel or had one of those transient strokes.  I can't think clearly about the opposing groups.  I can't think clearly about anything.

  1. how each relate to you is all that matters. we have a weird situation in the family, where there is a huge division between one sibling and 4 of the other siblings. We try to be "Switzerland" and be good to all of them , regardless of how they are to each other. That's their own personal problem, not ours

  2. If you are having that problem just see the other person and no one has to know.

  3. I'm a Democrat while my Oklahoma family is all Republicans. What do we do? We don't talk about politics or when we do it's usually just a comment about one of the candidates.

Just because you have an opposing view, doesn't mean you are wrong. It's not worth losing friends over.

Having said that, I have gotten into heated discussions and then realized how stupid it really was. One of our clients is on the opposite end and we have been having great talks when he comes in. Why, because we agreed to disagree.

It's just not worth the hassle.
