I can't believe what a difference a vacuum cleaner makes. I used to have to wrestle with my third generation hand-me-down Hoover canister vacuum. It had a detachable brush head. Unfortunately, the brush was worn out. The hose had been duct taped repeattedly for years. All sorts of major to minor things were wrong with it.
Saturday, I played around with the new vacuum, a Bissell upright. I vacuumed a little. Yesterday, when I got up, the vacuumed part of the carpet looked so good compared to the um-vacuumed parts, that I just vacuumed everything: the entrance way, the dining room, the hanger-like living room, the hallway to the bathroom (the little pieces of kitty litter sounded like popcorn as they got sucked up) and my bedroom. It wasn't a "breeze," but it was probably 1/10th of the energy I used with the old one. This will make weekly vacuumings a thing of the present.
Oh yeah, the amount of cat hair I picked up was enormous. Charlie's shedding like crazy. Of course, with weekly vacuuming, I expect that to go down. _
I hate vacuuming but the carpet sure looks nice when I finish. Elmo's new "place" is on top of the bed in the spare bedroom. It's a blue comforter that is now pretty much white.
