OK, Spectrum or TWC or Whoever the Hell You Are

Bump.  I had two technicians over here.  Check my comment.

I called Spectrum today with an internet connection problem.  The guy said he had to reboot my modem.  That knocks me offline until the reboot is completed.  He said, "Talk to you in 15 minutes."  That was over two hours ago.

This is the second major problem I've had since upgrading to Windows 7.  Actually, it was a clean install, so none of the problems on the old operating system should have migrated to 7.

The other thing is that 7 is slower than XP.  It takes 7 longer to perform the calculations necessary to an operation than XP did.  I find that very demoralizing.

It only took five calls this time to get somebody who appeared to know what he was talking about. He's blaming the modem (they all do that), so he's sending someone out here tomorrow to take care of thew problem. He asked if I co8uld install and activate a new modem. I probably could, but I want one of their people here if it doesn't solve the problem.

I called one time and told the guy that I have a desktop hard-wired into the modem and I also have Wi-Fi for my tablet No routers. "Okay," he said, "First, how does your computer connect to the internet?" I paused for a couple seconds and then I really let him have it. He hung up on me.

I got a call this morning from a TWC supervisor chewing my ass out for so many service calls. He said, "I'm coming with your service technician today. If the problem turns out to be your equipment, I'm charging you for the call." Like hell. It was their technician who set up this service call, not me. I had a very strong urge to punch him when he arrived. I've been through so much with these assholes . . . Now it's my fault if their telephone technician makes a bad call. I was so pissed. And, of course, they said the problem was with my tablet, not their modem. The good thing is that the supervisor said he wouldn't charge me, plus he gave me his card to call him directly whenever I have any technical issues. Apparently, I'm a bit of a legend at the call center. LOL

Maybe I should call them once a month just to keep them on their toes.

In the TWC circles, you are known as PITA (pain in the ass).

Excuse me, it's MPITA (major pain in the ass). But look what it got me: my own personal technician. The problem today with most purchases is that the sellers expect the buyers to do their work for them. Can you imagine buying a new car, and when something goes wrong with it, the dealership starts telling you how to fix it yourself? Yet, that's exactly what happens with computers. The industry will viciously defend these tactics. It often takes the threat of a lawsuit to make them listen up.
