KENOSHA — Carthage College will host a series of three panel discussions examining the anticipated impacts of the Foxconn Technology Group manufacturing campus planned for Mount Pleasant.
The public forums
in the next few weeks will address the future Foxconn’s potential
effects on the region, and the national and international trends that
the Foxconn project embodies. Panelists will include community leaders
and Carthage faculty from a variety of academic departments.
The public is invited to attend these free forums, and time will be set aside for audience questions and discussion. Each session runs from 4-5 p.m. in room 107 of the A.W. Clausen Center for World Business on the north end of the Carthage campus, 2001 Alford Park Drive.
The dates and topics:
As
the largest private employer in China, the Taiwanese firm brings with
it a different business culture, approach to the environment and method
of interacting with the community. A panel including former Racine Mayor
John Dickert will discuss the expected local ramifications.
March 14 — Impact on local government, geography and policy
Kenosha
Mayor John Antaramian and other experts will assess Foxconn’s potential
to serve as a catalyst for further growth in skilled manufacturing, as
well as the stress it will exert on local infrastructure and government
budgets.
March 21 — Foxconn in Wisconsin and beyond
To
attract large global employers, governments often provide incentives
ranging from workforce training to direct subsidies. This panel will lay
out the relevant economic trends and analyze the expected benefits and
costs stemming from Wisconsin’s recruitment of Foxconn.

After all those millions of dollars in advertising revenue from CAR 25 - or Belle City TV - as promised by Mary Jerger and John Dickert - how much have revenues increased over expenses?
BelleTV is the official television and web channel for the City of Racine. The station formerly known as CAR25 was re-branded in July of 2013 as “BelleTV,” a fresh name that celebrates the endearing term given to Racine in the 19th Century as the “Belle” or most beautiful city on the Great Lakes. BelleTV exists not only to serve the broadcasting needs of the local government within the City, but also to provide a platform for the Racine area to engage in the creation of art and media, the exchange of ideas and information, and the creative display of the long appreciated beauty and culture of Racine. BelleTV is managed by the City of Racine, Wisconsin.
