More than four ounces of heroin mixed with fentanyl were found in a car driven by a Milwaukee woman after she was stopped for driving 81 mph through a construction zone in Racine County, the sheriff's office said Saturday.
Construction workers were present Friday as the 28-year-old woman sped along northbound I-41/94 near State Highway 20, which has a posted speed limit of 60 mph, according to a news release.
It said the strong odor of marijuana prompted deputies to search the vehicle, in which they found 122.5 grams of the mixed drugs, according to the release.
Deputies also found 7.1 grams of marijuana on the woman, who was arrested along with a 36-year-old Chicago man who was a passenger in the car, the sheriff's office said.
The woman is facing charges of felony possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of marijuana, obstructing an officer, speeding and operating without a license.
The man is facing charges of felony possession with intent to deliver heroin as a repeat drug offender, and possession of marijuana as a repeat drug offender, the sheriff's office said.
Both were in the Racine County Jail Saturday, with bail set at $50,400 for the woman and $55,000 for the man, according to jail records.
