Tara,
Please submit my request to the committee of the whole my desire to amend the 2020 budget to include the $30,000 needed to replace the unsalvageable equipment for the public access station. Funding would either come from the existing franchise fee or from borrowing.
Jason,
Please schedule this as soon as possible so that, should the council approve amending the budget, we can continue public access to CAR 25, the city's public access channel.
Dave or Kathleen,
Please provide the revenue amount budgeted for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 from the cable franchise fee. It appears to no longer be a discernable line item in the budget.
Thanks to all in advance.

Alderwoman Weidner:
For quite some time now the equipment necessary to maintain and broadcast CAR25 has been failing -- essentially overheating and shutting down, and effectively breathing its last. It is so archaic, obsolete, and beyond its useful life that we now have no other choice than to shut it down. It is not in any way repairable or salvageable. The cost of fully replacing it is something in excess of $30,000 and we have no funds budgeted. To date the City has only received a single question of concern as to it being "off-air" -- indicating limited remaining viewership, as cable subscribers have dwindled and since the City began streaming all of its meetings.

Hi Jim,
I received several phone calls and several emails asking why Car25 is no longer on the air. Can you please let me know what has happened to the station and why it is no longer on air.
Thanks in advance.
