Foxconn Technology Group founder Terry Gou visited Milwaukee on Friday, just one day after a meeting with President Donald Trump that included discussion of the company’s much-watched Wisconsin project.
Speaking to some 500 people gathered at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center for a Foxconn holiday reception, Gou said he had come from “a working meeting at the White House.”
Foxconn’s former chairman, who stepped down earlier this year to run for president of Taiwan but still has a hand in company affairs, attended a White House holiday party, then met privately with Trump in the executive residence.
Foxconn’s stated plans to build a flat-screen plant in Racine County, invest $10 billion and create 13,000 Wisconsin jobs were a key topic between Gou and Trump.
The Foxconn project, which stands to receive an unprecedented level of Wisconsin taxpayer support, has been unfolding slowly and is eyed skeptically by many in a politically charged environment.
