One of Wisconsin's more colorful criminals is fresh out of prison with a new name — and what appears to be a variation on the same old con.
Kenneth Shong, as he's known to the Department of Corrections, completed a seven-year prison sentence earlier this year on a 2012 conviction for getting a fellow inmate and his family to sign up for questionable college courses six years earlier.
Now, according to court records, he's living in Oshkosh while completing three more years of extended supervision in that case and pitching himself online as a global educational consultant with several graduate degrees.
One of the first things he did upon his release was to get his name legally changed — from Kenneth Scott McDonald to Kenneth Onapolis. In October, as Onapolis, he filed for divorce from his wife in Ohio. She is not contesting the action, according to Winnebago County court records.
He's also back in the education business. His LinkedIn profile says he is "currently seeking a Client to adopt my turnkey ready 'Global Education System' project, while my consulting firm — Onapolis Group, Ltd. — provides the necessary consulting services to implement, establish, expend and oversee its global operations."
Onapolis did not return messages to his business email or the phone number listed for Onapolis Group.
