REAL. RACIST. RACINE.

Perhaps former RUSD Superintendent Ann Laing was correct when she stated:
“African American families don’t know how to make good choices for their children”

Racine waiving parking ticket late fees for Food Bank donations this month

From The Journal Times.com:

Racine Police Officer Jon LeGath, Police Chief Art Howell and Racine Mayor Cory Mason speak after a Friday morning City Hall press conference announcing the city's new Food for Forgiveness program. Residents who purchase a $5 donation bag from Malicki's Piggly Wiggly, 5201 Washington Ave., can show their receipt at the Racine Police Department's public service counter to have their parking ticket late fees waived through Dec. 31. The donations go to the Racine County Food Bank.

RACINE — City residents with outstanding parking tickets can have their late fees excused this month through the Food for Forgiveness initiative announced Friday morning.
Through Dec. 31, the Racine Police Department is partnering with the Racine County Food Bank and Malicki’s Piggly Wiggly to offer full late-fee forgiveness. Residents can buy a $5 food donation bag at Malicki’s, 5201 Washington Ave., get a receipt and bring it to the RPD’s public service counter at 730 Center St.; alternatively, they can make a direct $5 donation at the service counter.
The parking ticket will still need to be paid in its original full amount of $20. Late fees can be as high as $30, more than doubling the original fine, according to Police Chief Art Howell. Failure to pay a parking ticket “spirals into other challenges” that could include driver’s license, car registration and plates suspension, he said.
We thought it was a great opportunity to not only reach out to the community and show our concern, but to address a major issue, which is food security and hunger,” Howell said.
The donation bags at Malicki’s are filled with essential staple items, said store owner Ralph Malicki, who is also president of the Racine County Food Bank’s Board of Directors. Those “basic need items” include non-perishable foods such as beans or peanut butter, he said.
The need is great this time of the year,” Malicki said.

Racine Mayor Cory Mason announces the city's new Food for Forgiveness program Friday morning at City Hall. The program lets motorists purchase $5 Racine County Food Bank donation bags from Malicki's Piggly Wiggly, 5201 Washington Ave., and present the receipt to the Racine Police Department to have their parking ticket late fees waived.

Butterball Mason always has to get his pic in the paper.

Viral video shows border wall being scaled at Mexicali. Border Patrol says system 'worked exactly as designed'

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — A video taken by a Mexican citizen shows the newly replaced border fence in Mexicali being scaled by two men with a rope ladder, one of whom makes it over to the United States.
The 38-second video shows a pair of men climbing the ladder while another holds it on the Mexico side of the border. After one man successfully slides down the railing to the U.S. side and starts running toward a second structure, another begins yelling in Spanish, "Hurry, hurry, jump the fence."
A vehicle that appears to belong to U.S. Border Patrol then pulls up and officials emerge, prompting the other men to gather the ladder and slide back down the fence into Mexico.
The 16-year-old Mexican citizen who ran into the U.S. was apprehended by Border Patrol, Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Joshua Devack said in a video statement posted to Twitter.

Dear Village Board,

Cindy and I want to share this with you:

Corning Investor Day – Two New Gen 10.5 Glass Plants Announced

6/17/2019

Corning held an Investor Day event in New York City on Friday, June
14th, and rolled out new strategic targets for the corporation, but
the most important development of the day for the display industry was
given by an executive who was not present. Corning’s John Zhang,
Senior Vice President and General Manager of Corning Display
Technologies, appeared in a video feed to announce that Corning will
build two new Gen 10.5 glass plants in the coming year, in Guangzhou
and Wuhan, China. While Corning did not discuss the clients for these
plants, we know that the Guangzhou plant will be supplying Foxconn’s
plant in that city, and the Wuhan plant will supply BOE’s second Gen
10.5 plant there.

https://www.displaysupplychain.com/blog/corning-investor-day-two-new-gen-105-glass-plants-announced
 />
Did you notice something in the article?

That Mount Pleasant WI isn't mentioned?

Wasn't Corning Glass going to be building one of those Gen 10.5 Gen
plants in Mount Pleasant WI?

How come it didn't happen?

Let's see what else the article states:

When Corning announced in December 2015 its investment to support
BOE’s first Gen 10.5 plant in Hefei, China, it revealed that 2/3rds of
the investment was funded by others, and in numerous references to
this subject in the last three years, CEO Wendell Weeks has quoted
this 2/3 figure are Corning’s requirement for new investment in
display. In announcing the new plants, Zhang took this a step
further, saying that “>3 out of 4 Investment Dollars” would be coming
“from our customers and other stakeholders”, so that the resulting
investments would “provide attractive returns for our shareholders”.

So all the Village Board needs to do - in order for the David DeGroot
"Field of Dreams" to become the promised Gen 10.5 LCD manufacturing
campus promised to taxpayers is to fund 2/3rds of the costs for
Corning to build a manufacturing facility in Mount Pleasant. Easy -
Peasy - just enough votes to fund a billion dollar plus manufacturing
facility.

With Ram Bhatia being the smartest person in the room - surely he can
figure the principal and interest payments on a $666,666,666 loan so
that Residents property tax bills can be properly adjusted.

IMAGINE! 13,000 jobs paying $53G each! It is up to you to make it happen.

Thank you for your time,

Tim & Cindy

Fraud Lawsuit Filed Against City of Racine

From Racine WI - Sin City:

Here We Go Again!

From Talking Racine:

Once again, City of Racine is being sued. This time it is over alleged fraud which was committed during the failed John Dickert/Cory Mason $65 million Machinery Row Development. The Judge has reviewed the Complaint, and while the questionably competent and potentially malfeasant City Attorney Scott Letteney asked for a dismissal – the Judge DENIED the dismissal, meaning that the suit is going forward and taxpayers will once again BOHICA. Taxpayers ALWAYS pay the bills for incompetent City Employees.
The Crew over at Talking Racine has a video on this development, see:
In addition, a copy of the lawsuit may be reviewed at this link:
Just remember – this lawsuit is going forward – Once again – the City’s request for dismissal was DENIED. Now the Common Council must decide whether to defend or settle.  No matter their decision – taxpayers will once again BOHICA – the Common Council can only now minimize the damage. I suggest they do so – because Cindy and I are sick and tired of paying for their poor decisions and failure to confront malfeasant and questionably competent Mayors – from Becker – to Dickert – to Mason.
There are now 5! that’s FIVE in the Mayor’s Office – and yet here the City is – being sued for FRAUD! What in the World are they doing in the office all day? Or is 5! in the Mayor’s office a jobs program for Family & Friends.
City of Racine Common Council Alderpersons need to *WAKE UP* and smell the coffee.
When will former Mayor John Dickert and Mayor Cory Mason be criminally charged for all their malfeasant and criminal acts?
Once again – it is yet another black eye for City of Racine – and it’s gonna cost the taxpayers huge amounts to defend the indefensible – please, let the Common Council  choose the least cost option – admit the guilt and settle.
Cory Mason must resign – or the Common Council needs to have him removed from office – for the role he played in bringing this lawsuit. The Mayor’s position must be eliminated – as the City only needs one, or perhaps two in the City Administrators position. That is a positive solution to the problem of 5! incompetents holding positions in the Mayor’s Office.
Honest, Open, and Transparent Government must be restored! No more Razzle – Dazzle con-men like John Dickert and Cory Mason.

Nancy Pelosi to reporter: 'Don't mess with me'

(CNN)House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a scathing warning Thursday to a reporter who asked her a question about her feelings about President Donald Trump: "Don't mess with me."
The California Democrat forcefully pushed back on the idea that she and her caucus are proceeding with articles of impeachment because of a personal dislike of Trump, after being asked by a reporter from Sinclair if she hates him on her way out of the weekly press conference.
Pelosi stopped and said: "I don't hate anybody."
She then walked back to the microphone, and said that while she believes Trump is a "coward," that's only about his political positions.
"I think this President is a coward when it comes to helping our kids who are afraid of gun violence," she said. "I think that he is cruel when he doesn't deal with helping our Dreamers, of which we are very proud of. I think he is in denial about the climate crisis. However, that's about the election."
She continued: "This is about the Constitution of the United States and the facts that lead to the President's violation of his oath of office. And as a Catholic, I resent your using the word 'hate' in a sentence that addresses me. I don't hate anyone."
"I pray for the President all the time," Pelosi said. "So don't mess with me when it comes to words like that."
Pelosi is leading her caucus' efforts to impeach Trump and the House Judiciary Committee announced Thursday its next impeachment hearing will be on Monday.
During the press conference, Pelosi said Democrats won't wait until courts make decisions about witness testimony before proceeding with articles of impeachment because the White House's actions in taking these issues to court "is an obstruction of justice, and so we're not going to be accomplices to his obstruction of justice."
Asked if the articles of impeachment should involve findings in the Mueller report, Pelosi demurred. "My chairmen will be making recommendations," she said. "I'm not here to talk about that because that's what they'll be working on."
CNN's Manu Raju asked if she is concerned about Democrats in moderate districts facing backlash from voters over the move.
"This has absolutely nothing to do with politics. It isn't about politics, partisanship, Democrats and Republicans. That's totally insignificant," said Pelosi. "It's about the Constitution of the United States, the oath of office we take to protect and defend the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. It's about the President not honoring his oath of office. So no, I'm not concerned."
Pelosi also said impeachment is divisive and Democrats don't take glee in the situation. She said it is heartbreaking, but Trump gave them no choice. "I'm really sorry the President made this necessary."
She added that the founding fathers couldn't have predicted a "rogue Senate leader" who "will just ignore the facts and the Constitution," referring to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican.
This story has been updated with additional developments Thursday.

Wisconsin Capitol, state office buildings now offer free menstrual products

      From The Journal Times.com:

MADISON — Free pads and tampons are now available in all women's and some unisex bathrooms in the Capitol and state-owned office buildings.
The move, which carried an $18,875 price tag, comes after the Department of Administration installed or converted 138 menstrual product dispensers across two dozen DOA-controlled buildings in recent weeks.
State Rep. Melissa Sargent, who has pushed for legislation in the past to force state-run buildings to offer free tampons and pads, touted the news Tuesday as "a significant step towards equality."

      Menstrual products 2

A free menstrual product dispenser in a women's bathroom at the Wisconsin state Capitol.
"Menstrual products are necessities, not luxuries, and no individual should have to be without them when they are in need — especially in our government buildings," the Madison Democrat said in a release.
DOA began the work in September and Assistant Deputy Secretary Tia Torhorst said she expects it will be concluded this month, as officials have faced delays in one state building in downtown Madison that houses the Department of Health Services and others.
The work, which took place in buildings across the state, was paid for out of existing DOA operating funds. Asked about anticipated costs to stock the machines going forward, Torhorst didn't provide an estimate and said those expenses will depend on usage. Those supplies would also be covered by DOA's operating budget.
Buildings with the dispensers include the Risser Justice Center in downtown Madison, the Tommy G. Thompson Center in downtown Madison, the Hill Farms State Office Building on Madison's west side, the Green Bay State Office Building, the Wisconsin Rapids State Office Building, the Milwaukee State Office Building and the Eau Claire State Office Building, among others.

Ford workers break their silence on faulty transmissions: 'Everybody knew'

"Good people tried to make it work. But you can’t violate the laws of physics," engineer says of defective transmission.

They knew the truth and kept quiet.

Their secret wasn’t a secret at all in engineering, product development, research, design or manufacturing within Ford Motor Co., say seven current and former employees who worked to develop and launch the Fiesta and Focus cars that would become known for defective automatic transmissions.

“My hands are dirty. I feel horrible,” said an engineer who played a key role in developing the popular compact cars.

“You think of the gentleman who stood up for the space shuttle Challenger, saying if they launched that with the ice on it that it’s going to blow up. Well, these kinds of really horrific technical errors seemed to pass right through at Ford on this project,” the engineer said.

Asked whether the company ignored early warnings from its experts, Ford said the "vehicles were safe when they were introduced after rigorous testing during development, and remain so today after more than a decade on the road and billions of miles accumulated by customers around the globe."

The engineer said: “We’d raise our hands and be told, ‘Don’t be naysayers.’ We got strange comments. It seemed the ship had sailed. After that, if you ask questions, you’re accused of mutiny, so you put your head down and make it work. Good people tried to make it work. But you can’t violate the laws of physics. It’s a mechanical catastrophe.”

He was referring to the DPS6 dual-clutch "PowerShift" transmission used in 2 million Focus and Fiesta cars sold this decade that is the subject of massive litigation and a federal criminal fraud probe.

"It was cheap to make and cheap to assemble," the engineer said, but because the DPS6 used "dry" clutch technology, it couldn't cool itself, ensuring failures in real-world use.

      Tax Rates in MTP

      Dear Village Board,

Recently the Journal Times ran an article titled:

"Mount Pleasant tax rate declines slightly"

      https://journaltimes.com/news/local/mount-pleasant-tax-rate-declines-slightly/article_da70600a-17ed-53df-a846-b52b9c363273.html
       />
      BUT....

This year the assessments came in higher than expected, village officials said.

Michael Bonn, village finance director, said for a home that was
assessed at $220,000, that means its owners will be paying roughly
$1,459, which is $53 more than last year, down from the nearly $90
      increase that was originally projected.

ROFLOL! When "More" is "Less". Ya gotta be joking..... right? Oh WAIT!
      YOU ARE SERIOUS!

LOL! What happened to Tea- Tard Village President Davis DeGroot who
promised LOWER taxes, LESS government and RESPECT for property
      rights..... WELL....

      *Twinkle* *Twinkle* *Little* *Star*

Tyrant Supreme VP David DeGroot demands more revenue to pay for the
larger government he has created, the pay raises he has promised, and
the more land he is going to confiscate - albeit it legally
questionable - for his Foxconn impossible dream.

      Why - it is Ginormous!

One thing Taxpayers in MTP can be sure of - Hold firmly to your
ankles when MTP Village President David DeGroot comes around to take a
piece of your Azz. Cause you are about to be *ROCKED*

SO lemme get this strait -

Property values decline - mil rate increases.

Property values increase - mil rate decreases.

But the two opposing sets always act to move in a positive direction -
more for government via taxes - and less for Residents - in disposable
      income.

It is our opinion that the Village Board of MTP is made up of mostly
Criminals who are Liars, Cheats, Thieves, Scoundrels and Philanderers.
      Did I miss anyone?

      Sincerely,

Dog starts house fire by switching on microwave

The English town of Stanford-le-Hope where a dog caused a house fire.

(CNN)Every now and again incredible stories emerge of heroic dogs saving their owners from house fires.
This isn't one of those stories.
A husky has become the unlikely cause of a house fire after turning on a microwave with food inside it, according to fire services in England.
The fire began on Monday afternoon at a home in Stanford-Le-Hope, around 25 miles east of London, when a dog inadvertently switched on the kitchen appliance, which had a packet of bread rolls inside, according to Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
The owner, who was out of the property at the time, saw smoke coming from the kitchen through a camera feed on his mobile phone, the fire service said in a statement.
Geoff Wheal, watch manager at Corringham Fire Station, warned that the "very strange incident" could have been "more serious."
He said that he and his colleagues arrived to find the kitchen full of smoke.
Wheal warned against storing food in the microwave when the machine is not in use.
"Our advice is to always keep your microwave clean and free of clutter or food and any packaging," he said. "Animals or children can turn them on more easily than you might think, so please don't run the risk."
The dog was not hurt in the incident, the statement said.
