In celebration of Pride Month, the rainbow pride flag has been raised above the Wisconsin State Capitol for the second time in state history.

The flag was raised over the East Wing of the Capitol building at 1 p.m. Friday and will fly until sunset June 30.

In June 2019, Gov. Tony Evers issued an executive order to raise the pride flag above the state Capitol for the first time in Wisconsin history. This year, continuing the tradition, the flag has been raised again.

“Wisconsin is a proud state that recognizes that diversity makes our communities and our state stronger,” Evers said in a news release. “I am proud to once again celebrate the diversity and resiliency of the LGBTQ community this Pride Month and to share this symbol of our commitment to continue to do the work needed to create a more equitable, just, and inclusive state for all.”
