ICYMI: Truth hurts at the Golden Globes as Ricky Gervais’ host and roast is too much for some (VIDEO)

ICYMI

Comedian Ricky Gervais unleashed his traditional host and roast performance at the Golden Globes, only to be condemned for telling truth to the most privileged people on the planet.
Among other things, he dropped truth bombs about the deafening silence over Harvey Weinstein’s antics and the nauseating habit of virtual signalling actors taking the evening off of playing make-believe in order to lecture everyone else on the political theme of the day.
But as ICYMI found out, this time it was the media who were upset, and not the actors.

LAPD Officer Pleads Not Guilty to Fondling Dead Woman’s Breasts

A Los Angeles Police Department officer accused of fondling a corpse during a death investigation entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment Monday, officials said.
David Rene Rojas, 27, has been charged with a count of having sexual contact with human remains, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
He faces up to three years in prison if convicted.
Rojas, a 4-year veteran of the department, allegedly touched the breasts of a dead woman while investigating her overdose on Oct. 20, 2019, authorities said. He was alone with the corpse at the time.
The purported incident was uncovered during a random inspection of body-worn camera a month later, LAPD officials said.
Rojas had apparently disabled the bodycam, but the alleged incident was caught in the two-minute buffer, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The allegation "disgusted" LAPD Chief Michel Moore, who in early December told KTLA, "We are going to aggressively pursue any criminal violation."
Rojas was assigned home during the investigation and then arrested on Dec. 12. He was released from jail the same day after posting $20,000 bail, officials said.
The Los Angeles Police Protective League, the union representing LAPD officers, has publicly announced that it would not aid Rojas' defense.
KTLA's Dianne Sanchez contributed to this story.

Astonishing moment a 93-year-old man shoots an apartment complex manager in both legs out of revenge after his Las Vegas home was hit by flooding

  • Robert Thomas, 93, was enraged after his Las Vegas apartment flooded
  • The nonagenarian picked up a 9mm and took it to the leasing manager's office
  • The pensioner popped 2 shots, 1 into each of the maintenance manager's legs
  • Prosecutors allege that he told arresting officers that he 'would do it again'

Thomas (pictured) has since been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, burglary with a gun, and discharging a gun in a prohibited area for last week's callous attack

Video Shows Ukrainian Plane Being Hit Over Iran

The New York Times has obtained video of the moment a Ukrainian airliner was hit minutes after takeoff from Tehran.

  • Jan. 9, 2020Updated 5:30 p.m. ET
Video verified by The New York Times appears to show an Iranian missile hitting a plane above Parand, near Tehran’s airport, the area where a Ukrainian airliner stopped transmitting its signal before it crashed on Wednesday.

A small explosion occurred when a missile hit the plane, but the plane did not explode, the video showed. The jet continued flying for several minutes and turned back toward the airport, The Times has determined. The plane flew toward the airport ablaze before it exploded and crashed quickly, other videos verified by The Times showed.

Visual and sonic clues in the footage matched flight path information and satellite imagery of the area near where the plane crashed. The satellite images were taken on Thursday and provided to The Times by Maxar Technologies, a space technology company. This helped to verify the video’s authenticity.

In the video, approximately 10 seconds elapse between the flash of impact with the plane and the sound of the explosion reaching the camera. The sound delay indicates the plane was a little over two miles from the camera at the time of impact. This comports with the path of the flight, as recorded by the flight tracking company FlightRadar24.

Blocked Emails at Racine City Hall

The cancer of secrecy within the city
continues to grow under
Mayor Mason's Leadership

Within the city wide email system, there has been a marked increase of restricted, quarantined, impeded and blocked emails.

In recent communications with city officials, RCC emails were blocked going into the offices of the city attorney office
and the Chief of Police.

Discussions with some city officials has revealed
others finding the same abuse
within the City wide email system.

Several city council aldermen/women have complained about their emails account being hacked and tampered with.

Others have been warned that their city emails are routinely read, censored, screened and blocked by an unknown actors.

During our investigations of our blocked emails, A member of the Racine Police department informed us of another complaint
coming in on this same day of an email being
blocked into the police department.

The term used by City MIS officials when you have been blocked is called whitewashed, politically friendlier
term than blacklisted

Who is behind this dark force?
What is the purpose of this mayhem?
Why has Mayor Cory Mason not acted to clean up the
 perpetrators of these crimes?

There has been no response from the Mayor's office regarding blocked emails, nor from the City attorney's office.

BUT
We did receive a response from the Chief of Police.

"My practice it to ensure that every inquiry that comes into the chief’s office
receives a response (usually a personal response from me)."

This response from Art Howell came after our email to him was manually forwarded by a city MIS Department official.

We thank MIS officials for helping us overcome the glitches and/or the dark forces within city government

From a citizen standpoint, the tampering of emails thwart, impede and block the rights of all individuals to petition, communicate and address government officials.

The tampering of emails attack the rights of all involved
and are serious infractions upon the 1st Amendment
of the U.S. Constitution.

How many more emails not being delivered to city officials is the $100.00 question?

U.S. Alcohol-Related Deaths Have Doubled, Study Says

Overall, researchers found men died of alcohol-related causes in 2017 at a higher rate than women. But when analyzing annual increases in deaths, the largest increase was among white women.
Eric Risberg/AP

More Americans are ordering more rounds and that's leading to more funerals, according to a new study on alcohol-related deaths.
Looking at data from the National Center for Health Statistics, researchers estimate deaths from alcohol-related problems have more than doubled over the last 20 years.
Death certificates spanning 2017 indicate nearly 73,000 people died in the U.S because of liver disease and other alcohol-related illnesses. That is up from just under 36,000 deaths in 1999.
Some of the greatest increases were found among women and people who were middle-aged and older.
The study comes from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, which is part of NIH. It was published on Wednesday in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research.
Overall, researchers found men died at a higher rate than women. But when analyzing annual increases in deaths, the largest increase was among white women.
"With the increases in alcohol use among women, there's been increases in harms for women including ER visits, hospitalization and deaths," Aaron White, who authored the paper, told NPR.
The research shows that in 2017, alcohol proved to be even more deadly than illicit drugs, including opioids. That year there were about 70,000 drug overdose deaths — about 2,300 fewer than those involving alcohol, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Only cigarettes are deadlier than alcohol; more than 480,000 people die each year in the U.S. because of smoking-related illnesses.
However, alcohol-related overdoses — either alone or with drugs — rose between 1999 and 2017. Other alcohol-related causes included heart disease, cancer and accidental injuries like falls.
The number of deaths caused by drunken driving over the same two decades declined.
Other findings included in the study:
  • "70.1% of the population aged 18 and older ... consumed alcohol in 2017, averaging approximately 3.6 gallons of pure alcohol per drinker."
  • "While the overall prevalence of drinking and binge drinking did not change for men, there was a 10.1% increase in the prevalence of drinking and a 23.3% increase in binge drinking among women."
  • "Increases in consumption were larger for people aged 50 and older relative to younger age-groups."

Hear A Previously Unreleased Version Of David Bowie's 'The Man Who Sold The World'

Happy birthday to the man of many names.
David Bowie would have turned 73 today. To celebrate, Parlophone is releasing a six-song EP entitled Is It Any Wonder?, which will feature some previously unreleased recordings from the departed legend.
The songs of Is It Any Wonder? are expected to be doled out over the course of the next six weeks, but today we can dig into a new version of "The Man Who Sold The World," which was recorded in New York, just ahead of Bowie's 50th birthday concert at Madison Square Garden in 1997. The whole session, named ChangesNowBowie, was recorded for broadcast on the BBC to celebrate the Starman's 50th. (Probably not coincidentally, the 1970 album of the same name turns 50 this year.)
With a sitar-mimicking guitar synth (played by longtime Bowie collaborator Reeves Gabrels) taking center stage and without the cacophony of eclectic percussion, this "ChangesNowBowie" version leans more into the somber, solitary and searching narrative of the tune.
Compare it to the original, and stay tuned for more material over the next few weeks.

Boy, 5, bitten by coyote in Lincoln Park

CHICAGO — A 5-year-old boy was bitten by a coyote in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, the boy was bitten Wednesday around 4 p.m. right outside the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. An adult who was with the boy rushed him onto a nearby CTA bus for safety when the incident happened.
The boy was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital with lacerations to the right side of his head. The child was stabilized at the hospital.
On Tuesday, a WGN photographer spotted a coyote rambling around the Gold Coast just off Lake Shore Drive. That same day, another coyote was rescued from Lake Michigan at Monroe Harbor.
Experts said it’s very unusual for a coyote to approach, much less attack, a person,
Animal Care and Control wants to remind Chicagoans who encounter a coyote to let them handle it and let them know by calling 311.
