RUSD Must Have Money To Burn
I keep receiving flyers in the mail from RUSD pimping their billion dollar referendum. It's worth noting that these flyers are glossy stock printed on light cardboard. It's not cheap to produce these things, especially when you consider that RUSD sends them out to every residence in Racine. These facts alone prove that RUSD is a spendthrift, pissing away our tax dollars in an effort to secure more. RUSD is like a large cancer on the city of Racine, sucking out our life blood as it grows unchecked. RUSD musrt be disbanded if Racine is to survive. Vote NO on RUSD's billion dollar referendum. If the referendum passes, RUSD will continue to throw away our money like a drunken sailor. Stop the madness. Vote NO!

Former Racine Mayor John Dickert reportedly involved in road rage incident, parking lot fight
From The Journal Times.com:
MOUNT PLEASANT — Charges are pending against former Racine Mayor John Dickert after he was reportedly involved in a fight in a local grocery's store parking lot after an alleged road rage incident.
At
4:06 p.m. Sunday, the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded
to Piggly Wiggly, 5201 Washington Ave., after receiving 911 calls
about a fight in the grocery store parking lot. Witnesses reported
seeing two people punching each other.
The
two suspects involved in the fight were identified as former Racine
Mayor John Dickert, 57, and 18-year-old Christian Reynoso, both of
Racine, the Mount Pleasant Police Department confirmed.
Dickert
was elected as Racine's mayor in 2009 in a special election, and
re-elected in 2011 and 2015. He resigned
in 2017.
Investigation
into the incident revealed that Dickert and Reynoso had reportedly
been driving in separate vehicles on Highway 20/Washington Avenue.
After a road rage incident between the two, both of the vehicles
pulled into the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.
Shortly
after, Dickert and Reynoso reportedly got out of their vehicles and
started fighting each another.
Both
Dickert and Reynoso were injured in the fight. The South Shore Fire
Department responded to provide treatment; however, no one was
transported to the hospital.
Charges
of battery and disorderly conduct have been referred to the Racine
County District Attorney's Office for both Dickert and Reynoso.
“There
is a referral to the District Attorney for both Dickert and Reynoso.
At the time point, the District Attorney has not made a charging
decision," said attorney Patrick Cafferty, who is representing
Dickert. "On Mr. Dickert’s behalf, I have been in touch with
the Racine County District Attorney. We are in the process of
exchanging information and we ask that the public withhold judgment
until all the facts are available.”
After
Dickert resigned in 2017, he became president and CEO of the Great
Lakes St. Lawrence Cities Initiative. He currently works as Division
Administrator for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
Since John Dickert was arrested - would you please post his mug-shot?
In the incident involving former Racine County Republican DA Rich Chiapette and his wife Jennifer - who lied to the Racine Police and attempted a cover-up - you did great reporting, brought forward the truth - and informed the Community about the implied abuses of power occurring in the DA's office.
John Dickert - being older and "wiser" had a choice - and he chose to carry on the altercation. His other choice was to have gone his way - and gone home. Was Tony Ever's Administrator of state and local finance driving a taxpayer funded vehicle - or claiming mileage?
John Dickert's lack of insight and discretion in this matter only PROVES that he is unqualified for any position in Government - but this has not been Dickert's failure for the first time. John Dickert has a record of failure - and a record of being rewarded by questionably competent Superiors for his brown - nosing ways.
JT - Thank you for the great reporting.

That’s a bit west of the Racine city limits and a major thoroughfare. Smith could not give specifics of the incident saying all reports have been turned over the Racine County District Attorney. Legal cannabis industry sees record sales as customers facing coronavirus crisis stock up
Steven DeAngelo has seen it all. As the so-called “father of the legal cannabis industry,” he co-founded one of the largest vertically integrated licensed cannabis businesses in California, called Harborside, with four stores and $60 million in annual revenues.
But what’s happened in the last month is something new. “We had our largest sales day ever,” he said. “Sales are up 20-25% at all locations.”
Across the country, sales are sky high in states where legal cannabis has been declared “essential medicine” during state shutdowns, allowing stores to stay open.
Customers appear to be stocking up, and many stores are shifting to delivery. It’s also possible the industry is reaching new customers who, until now, have bought their pot illegally, but want to now take advantage of regulated product delivered to their doorstep.
Here are some data points from industry players:
- Average store revenue is up 52% to 130% compared with January at more than 1,300 stores using cannabis e-commerce platform Jane Technologies.
- Jane also reports the number of new users ordering online has increased 142% over the last month.
- Beverages and edibles are seeing significant sales lifts in California, according to cannabis analytics firm Headset.
- Wholesale seller LeafLink reported a 48% spike in orders Monday versus a week ago.
- “Cannabis demand has surged in Florida,” writes MKM Partners Research, which says operators saw an average jump in THC product of 36% for the week ending March 19.
As demand flourishes, long-suffering publicly traded cannabis companies have seen their shares start to rebound. Canopy Growth is down 70% in the last year, but over the last week shares are up 25%. Tilray has lost 90% of its value in the last year, but over the last week shares rose nearly 40%.
DeAngelo said Harborside is hiring drivers as delivery ramps up. Even though California calls cannabis essential medicine, he said customers do not need a medical card to buy. Anyone over 21 can make a legal purchase.
“Fortuitously — we didn’t know the pandemic was coming — a few months ago we opened our Desert Hot Springs location,” DeAngelo said. “We have one of two drive-through windows in the entire state of California, so it’s a very popular place to buy cannabis in the Coachella Valley right now.”
Coronavirus: Prince Charles tests positive but 'remains in good health' - BBC News
"He's been working from home." What the hell kind of "work" does he do? Hopefully, he'll give COVID-19 to the queen.
Man who said he had coronavirus coughed on Wegmans worker, charged with making terroristic threat
NEPTUNE, N.J. – A man is facing charges after allegedly coughing on a Wegmans employee in New Jersey and claiming he had the coronavirus, authorities said.
George Falcone, 50, of Freehold Township was charged with making terroristic threats, harassment and obstruction after officials said he refused to identify himself or provide identification to township police for more than 40 minutes, according to a news release from the state Attorney General's Office.
Gov. Phil Murphy, who mentioned the incident at a news conference Tuesday, said police responded to a call after a man was in a confrontation with a female employee of the supermarket chain and then "coughed on the woman and told her after doing so that he had the coronavirus."
The employee told Falcone, who was shopping at the Wegmans in Manalapan around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, that he was standing too close to her and an open display of prepared foods, according to the news release. The woman asked him to step back as she covered the food.
That request prompted Falcone to step forward to within three feet of her, lean over and "purposefully" cough. He then allegedly laughed and said he was infected with the coronavirus, according to the Attorney General's Office.
A Manalapan police detective, who was working a security detail at the store, approached Falcone after the incident. He allegedly refused to cooperate or provide his name or driver’s license for 40 minutes. He eventually identified himself and was allowed to leave the store, authorities said.
Young adults in Kentucky threw a 'coronavirus party.' Now one of them has COVID-19.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky's overall confirmed coronavirus cases jumped to 163 Tuesday with at least one case stemming from a "coronavirus party," Gov. Andy Beshear said, admonishing the practice and calling for an immediate end to such gatherings.
“This is the part where I, the person that tells everybody to be calm, have to remain calm myself," Beshear said. "Because anyone who goes to something like this may think that they are indestructible, but it’s someone else’s loved one that they are going to hurt.”
“We are battling for the health and even the lives of our parents and our grandparents," he added. "Don’t be so callous as to intentionally go to something and expose yourself to something that can kill other people. We ought to be much better than that.”
Beshear said the infection was one of 39 new cases reported Tuesday but did not say which county the case was associated with. Beshear said the person attended a party of adults in their 20s.
"I guess thinking they were invincible flaunting the mass gathering prohibition," he said.
Across Kentucky, four people have died from COVID-19.
"This is something that no one should be doing across the commonwealth," Beshear said.
"We all owe each other a duty to protect each other," Beshear added. "And we simply can’t have folks that are doing things like this.
Dear Madame Zoltar
Hello, my wonderful friends. How are you? Have a fever and a dry cough? Uh-oh. Please self-quarantine for at least 20 years. The rest of us will hunker down in our underground bunkers. What? You don't have an underground bunker? Uh-oh, uh-oh! Sounds like you're out of luck . . .
Unless, of course, you want to possess something that will ward off the new coronavirus, along with a host of other common ailments. What I'm talking about is a pouch that you wear around your neck. Said pouches contain garlic cloves. They have each received a telepathic implant from me. The implant is an anathema to COVID-19. Wearing such a pouch, you need not worry about contracting the coronavirus. I can afford to sell such simple garlic-infused pouches for only $29.95 each. If you want the deluxe model, which protects you from all viruses, the price is $49.95. Send your prepaid orders to: madamezoltar@jtirregulars.com .
Coronavirus, coronavirus, coronavirus, that's all you hear about anymore. Newspapers, radio news, TV news, online news, and on and on: all they talk about is the coronavirus. It's like nothing else counts. Nothing. Oh my.
Here's a timeline for the coronavirus;
Señor Zanza is being a saint by refusing to talk about, or even mention, the coronavirus. He tells jokes, shares funny online videos, even sings and dances. He'll do anything to distract me and Junior. Like the rest of Wisconsin, we're sheltering in place. Thank God that I can still astral project. That allows me to go anywhere in the universe without leaving the comfort of home. How nice.
Mr. President Trump says that he wants to give every American $1,000, or $2,000, or a million dollars. What a deal! Go, Donald, go! I can use $1,000. I could pay for a complete makeover. And some new clothes. And shoes. And jewelry. And, and, and all sort of stuff.
All three of us (Señor Zanza, Junior, and me) file income taxes. Will we each get a check? Three, or even six, thousand dollars could do this household some good. Please, Congress, stop dithering around and give us our money! Now, please!
That's it, my friends. As I write this, I can't help but think of COVID-19. I need to stop dong that. It's not healthy to concentrate on a disease all day long. The only way to stop that is to stop writing. So I must.
Thank you for reading my blog this week. I appreciate and love all of my readers. We're family. Let the love flow.

More than 101,400 new unemployment claims in 9 days as the coronavirus pandemic closes businesses
From JSOnline:
Sarah Hauer, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Sarah Hauer, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
More than 101,400 new unemployment claims have been filed in Wisconsin in just the past nine days. This is what it's like to watch Wisconsin's economy shut down.
Just Monday, around 21,250 new unemployment claims were filed, according to preliminary data released by the state's Department of Workforce Development. That same day, 12 companies filed mass layoff notices with the department signaling that more than 900 employees would be cut.
That number is expected to increase as a "safer at home" order goes into effect from Gov. Tony Evers.
Last week, bars, restaurants, malls and other businesses were all ordered to close in a social distancing effort to slow the spread of coronavirus. Starting Tuesday, that list of shuttered businesses will grow.
Evers' order will require many people to either work remotely or lose their jobs as workplaces that aren't deemed essential close. More details on what is included in essential businesses will be released Tuesday.
Among the layoff notices sent to the state Monday:
- Restaurant and catering company Black Shoe Hospitality in Milwaukee laying off 155 workers
- Hyatt Regency Milwaukee hotel laying off 112 employees
- Artists group Clearwing Production Inc. laying off 25
- Mickeys Linen and Tower Supply Inc. laying off 48 employees
- Commercial screen pinter Visual Impressions Inc. letting go 41 employees
- Wisconsin Central School Bus laying off 90 drivers in Milwaukee and another 48 in New Richmond.
Many of the notices said the layoffs were expected to be temporary until businesses could resume normal operations.
Around 5,200 new unemployment claims were filed in Wisconsin during the week ending March 14, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. That was up 150 claims from the week before.
Safer at Home order issued, in effect until April 24
From The Journal Times.com:
STEVE APPS, Lee Newspapers file photo |
Wisconsin's Safer at Home order will go into effect Wednesday at 8 a.m.
It is to remain in effect until at least 8 a.m. Friday, April 24.
“I know the COVID-19 outbreak has been difficult and has disrupted the lives of people across our state. Issuing a Safer at Home order isn’t something I thought we’d have to do and it’s not something I take lightly, but here’s the bottom line: folks need to start taking this seriously,” Gov. Tony Evers said in a statement. “Each and every one of us has to do our part to help slow the spread of COVID-19 so we can flatten the curve to ensure our doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers have the opportunity to do their important work. Let’s all do our part and work together.”
All nonessential travel, with few exceptions, has been banned. All nonessential businesses have been ordered to close, with employees still able to work from home when possible.
The order said that "Individuals do not need special permission to leave their homes, but they must comply with this order as to when it is permissible to leave home."
Wisconsin residents are still allowed to leave their home to perform "tasks essential to maintain health and safety," which includes getting food or other supplies, picking up medicine or seeing a doctor. They can also leave home to care for family members "or other vulnerable persons" in other homes.

With
the coronavirus pandemic spreading rapidly across the country,
millions of Americans are being told by state and county officials to
take refuge at home, and only venture out to get things they really
need. Groceries, naturally. Prescription drugs, of course. Gas for
the car. Urgent medical care.
And
in many places, marijuana makes the list.
Over
the past week, more than a dozen states have agreed that while
“nonessential” stores had to close, pot shops and medical
marijuana dispensaries could remain open — official
recognition that for some Americans, cannabis is as necessary as milk
and bread.
In
most cases, the marijuana businesses must, like restaurants, limit
themselves to taking orders for delivery or curbside pickup.
As
Americans have raced in recent weeks to stock up on supplies like
toilet paper, canned goods and hand sanitizer, many who live in
states where marijuana has been legalized — including
California, Oregon and Michigan — also rushed to buy enough
cannabis products to last them through weeks, if not months, of
hunkering down at home.
