In the end, two people were arrested under suspicion of driving while intoxicated and a deputy suffered minor injuries as about an inch of wet snow fell on Racine County.
The sequence of events began shortly after 5 p.m. when a Taurus was seen hitting a pickup truck and fleeing the crash while going south on Interstate 94, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies attempted a traffic stop after the vehicle exited the interstate, but the driver would not cooperate, the sheriff's office said. Snow- and slush-covered roads forced deputies to end the pursuit, but eventually, a deputy located the suspect vehicle parked near a business near county highways K and H.
While being ordered out of the vehicle, the driver began reaching back into the car, so a deputy deployed a Taser and took him into custody.
The driver is facing tentative charges of operating while intoxicated-fourth offense, recklessly endangering safety, resisting or obstructing arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of THC, according to the sheriff’s office.
Then, at 7:45 p.m., while deputies were investigating another crash along I-94 near Highway G, another car failed to slow down and crashed into a tow truck and a squad car, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.
