Foxconn might use the Wisconsin facility in Mount Pleasant to produce electric cars, the company's chairman said Tuesday in a news briefing.
The New York Times reported that Foxconn's chairman and chief executive Young Liu said during a news briefing that the company is deciding between the Wisconsin facility or one of its plants in Mexico to make electric cars.
Liu said that the company will announce what it will make in Wisconsin before July. It could be electric cars, or something else, he said.
Foxconn announced it had a deal with electric car startup Fisker to build an electric vehicle in February. At that time, Fisker's chairman and chief executive told the Wall Street Journal that Foxconn's Wisconsin property would be an "obvious" choice.
