Unborn baby also died, family members said
RACINE, Wis. —
A pregnant woman was found dead in her Racine apartment.
Police said they found the victim dead about 5:10 p.m. Friday.
Family members identified her Monday as Vanessa Anderson.
Officers said they were called to the 1600 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Anderson was a week away from giving birth via a scheduled C-section.
Her sister said her unborn baby daughter also died.
Lashunda Anderson said her sister was found by her landlord naked.
"There was blood everywhere," she said.
Police said they were investigating Anderson's death as a homicide.
She was found stabbed to death.
So far, no arrests have been made.
Police said the investigation was ongoing.
Investigators returned to the scene Monday.
They have not released any suspect information.
No other details were available.
A row of candles lined the sidewalk in front of the home where Anderson had lived for less than two weeks.
"It was a lot of new beginnings for her that ended very shortly," Lashunda Anderson said.
She was survived by two other daughters.
Lashunda Anderson said her sister had received death threats.
"She didn't deserve what happened to her. Nobody deserves that. She was in such a vulnerable state being nine months pregnant," she said. "I just pray and hope that whoever is responsible for it is caught."
Additional information was expected to be released Tuesday.
Racine police asked anyone with additional information about the crime to call 262-635-7756.
