With full-page newspaper ads, Advocate Aurora Health is asking for the public's help in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.
"We can't stop COVID without you," said the ads that ran Sunday in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Green Bay Press Gazette and Chicago Tribune.
The effort follows similar moves made by health care systems in Cleveland and Minnesota, which are dealing with a surge of cases and the uncertainty created by the omicron variant.
According to a news release, Advocate Aurora, "currently has nearly three times more COVID-19 patients at its 26 hospitals across Illinois and Wisconsin than it did just eight weeks ago. That’s more than at any other point this year. As a result, beds are filling up and wait times can be long."

The statement said the "strain on our frontline is undeniable. The doctors, nurses and countless others who have so skillfully and compassionately cared for our communities are hurting."
The advertisement said that "more than 90% of all COVID inpatients are unvaccinated or due for a booster."
The ad asked for people to get fully vaccinated, to wear a mask in public indoor settings and for those who feel sick to stay home and get tested.
