Jamaica's marijuana shortage branded a 'cultural embarrassment'

Hurricanes, drought and the COVID-19 pandemic have all taken their toll on farmers and their crops.

Many farmers could not tend to their crops during the coronavirus curfew

Bad weather and a drop in the number of farmers has led to a marijuana shortage in Jamaica.

Marijuana fields were pummelled by heavy rain during last year's hurricane season, before being scorched in the drought that followed, leading to tens of thousands of dollars in losses.

"It destroyed everything," said Daneyel Bozra, who grows marijuana in the southwest of Jamaica.

Strict COVID-19 measures made the situation worse, especially a 6pm curfew that meant farmers could not tend to their fields at night as is routine.

A lack of roads forces farmers to walk to their fields and then to get water from wells and springs. Many were unable to do those chores at night due to the curfew.

"It's a cultural embarrassment," said Triston Thompson from Tacaya, a consulting and brokerage firm for the country's nascent legal cannabis industry.

He added: "Last year was the worst year. We've never had this amount of loss. It's something so laughable that cannabis is short in Jamaica."

A Better Mt. Pleasant Sends

Remember how whenever Foxconn got caught changing plans weekly in Wisconsin, they (as well as local officials) offered the same line. The exact same line:
Foxconn "remains committed to creating 13,000 jobs and a $10 billion investment."
Foxconn said it. Jonathan Delagrave said it. Dave DeGroot said it. No one deviated at all.
After a while, they just said "13,000 jobs" and forgot about the $10 billion investment.
It was almost like they all had the same PR firm crafting their statements. We kid. They totally had the same PR firm. In fact Mount Pleasant has paid them a few hundred thousand already.
Anyway, the 13,000 jobs and $10 billion investment is long gone - no says that anymore.
The newest line everyone repeats is:
"Foxconn continues to fulfill its financial obligations under the local development agreement and is proud to be the largest taxpayer in the Village of Mount Pleasant and Racine County,"
Of course, this is no more true than their promise of 13,000 jobs and $10 billion invested. Foxconn has not fulfilled its financial obligations and we're not actually sure they are the biggest property taxpayer in Racine County - we'd expect SCJ to be very, very close.
We're on the watch for the next weasel talking point.

Santa Clara County Prepares Levi's Stadium as Mass Vaccination Site

Pharmacy in Panama Park has nearly 1,500 people on waitlist for COVID-19 vaccine

The US paid Deloitte $44 million for a vaccine appointment system laden with glitches. Some states are scrambling for an alternative.

Americans eligible for coronavirus vaccines are still struggling to get appointments.

"Every clinic, every hospital has its own mechanism of communicating, recruiting, and setting up appointments," Dr. Thomas Dobbs, Mississippi's state health officer, said in a Thursday press briefing. "That's the real challenge because we have basically 100 different ways to do the same thing."

It wasn't supposed to be this difficult. In May, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention signed a $16 million deal with the consulting firm Deloitte, a top federal IT contractor, to create a centralized website through which states could schedule their vaccine appointments. The system was also meant to monitor vaccine inventory and report each shot as it was administered. Deloitte received another $28 million for the project in December — bringing the total to $44 million.

The tool the company produced is called the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS). State officials and health clinics can use the site for free to coordinate their vaccine rollouts. But in the end, only nine states opted in, with the rest — Mississippi included — deciding against VAMS. Many said no to the system due to concerns about its performance.

Racine woman arrested on warrants for stealing diapers and hitting another woman with a bat 10 times

From The Journal Times.com:

RACINE — A Racine woman has been arrested on warrants for stealing diapers, and assaulting someone with a bat.

Shabrina L. Carter, 30, of the 1200 block of 10th Street, was charged with felony counts of substantial battery with use of a dangerous weapon and possession of cocaine, 13 felony counts of bail jumping and misdemeanor counts of retail theft less than or equal to $500 and disorderly conduct with use of a dangerous weapon.

According to a criminal complaint:

At 6:41 on Oct. 11, officers were sent to Taylor Mart, 1813 Taylor Ave., for an assault with a bat.

Upon arrival, one officer found the woman who had been allegedly hit with the bat, in a bathroom with a laceration on her head. The officer watched surveillance footage and saw the woman in the store and Carter arriving in a Cadillac, removing a bat from the car and entering the store. Carter then hit the woman about 10 times with the bat before leaving.

On Nov. 24, an officer went to a Walmart in Mount Pleasant for a theft that happened the day prior.

Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the loss prevention officer who said at 9:30 p.m., a woman went to the diaper aisle, grabbed five boxes of diapers and got them scanned at a register. She then told the cashier she wasn’t going to pay for them and left the store with the diapers. The loss prevention officer reportedly said the woman was Carter.

If you look closely on city streets, campgrounds and stretches of desert run by the Bureau of Land Management, you’ll see more Americans living in vehicles than ever before. It was never their plan.

“I wasn’t prepared when I had to move into my SUV. The transmission was going. I had no money saved. I was really scared,” said April Craren, 52, bundled in blankets atop a cot inside her new minivan, a 2003 Toyota Sienna.

She flipped the camera on her phone to show me the camp stove she uses to make coffee and her view of the sun rising over the Colorado River. She has no toilet, shower or refrigeration.

After separating from her husband, April found herself homeless in June 2020, exacerbating the depressive disorder for which she receives $1,100 a month in disability benefits.

“I could have gotten an apartment but in a crappy unsafe place with no money to do anything at all,” she explained.

Last year, where April lived in Nixa, Missouri, the average rent for an apartment was $762, slightly less than the national average. Like nearly half of American renters, she would have been crippled by the cost.

Kamala Harris uses casting vote to pass Covid relief budget

Oregon seniors blocked from signing up for COVID vaccine shots until Monday

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) will not allow seniors 80 and older to sign up in advance for COVID-19 vaccine shots. They will have to wait until Monday, Feb. 8, when they become eligible, according to an OHA spokesman.

During the first week, 19,900 doses will be available statewide for those seniors, a group that is the most vulnerable in Oregon when it comes to COVID-19. That group includes roughly 168,000 people.

On Wednesday, the OHA Director Patrick Allen told a legislative committee he expects things to be rough.

"Every state that’s opened to seniors has had some form of chaos on its hands and I want to be completely transparent. We're gonna have some form of chaos on our hands too,” Allen said.

Many seniors waited and wondered when they could sign up for the shot, how they could do it and where they would have to go if they were lucky enough to secure an appointment.

The OHA left most of those questions unanswered until Thursday, and its still unclear if seniors will be able to call a central phone number to book an appointment.

On top of that, OHA has a significant problem with supply and demand, said Allen.

Prosecutors again ask for higher bond for Kenosha protest shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, saying he thinks ‘rules do not apply to him’

From Chicago Tribune:

Wisconsin prosecutors pressed their call for a higher bond for Kyle Rittenhouse, arguing Thursday that the 18-year-old “apparently believes the rules do not apply to him” as he awaits trial for shooting three people, two of them fatally, at an August protest.

The filing by Kenosha County prosecutors came a day after they sought an arrest warrant for Rittenhouse and for $200,000 to be added on top of the $2 million bond his lawyers posted in November, alleging he has failed to tell the courts where he is living.

Rittenhouse lived in far north suburban Antioch at the time of the Kenosha shootings but has lived at an undisclosed location since his release ― a move his lawyers attribute to threats on his life. The crux of the prosecutors’ argument is that Rittenhouse’s lawyers listed the Antioch address on his bond paperwork and have not updated the courts on his new home.

On Wednesday, Rittenhouse’s lawyers filed what they said was his new address along with a motion to seal the information.

Gov. Tony Evers issues new statewide mask mandate an hour after Republican lawmakers eliminated it

From JSOnline:
Molly Beck
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

MADISON – Democratic Gov. Tony Evers on Thursday issued a new health emergency order requiring face masks in public indoor places just an hour after Wisconsin Republican lawmakers eliminated the same mandate.

GOP lawmakers in the Assembly voted Thursday to repeal the statewide mask rule by ending the governor's health emergency order — the first measure passed by the Legislature in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 10 months.

But Evers put the mask requirement back in place almost immediately, saying he was doing so to avoid unnecessary risk to the public's health. If Evers hadn't acted, the state may have been at risk of losing tens of millions of dollars a month in federal food assistance without an emergency order in place.

"Wearing a mask is the most basic thing we can do to keep each other safe. If the Legislature keeps playing politics and we don’t keep wearing masks, we're going to see more preventable deaths, and it’s going to take even longer to get our state and our economy back on track," he said in a videotaped statement released with the new order.

"Dictator @GovEvers didn't waste any time ignoring the will of the Legislature just like he continues to ignore state statute," Sen. Julian Bradley, R-Franklin, tweeted after the new order was issued.

Republican lawmakers like Bradley who pushed the repeal argue Evers didn't have the authority to issue the order in the first place and that his mandate violates the state constitution — an allegation made in a lawsuit before the Wisconsin Supreme Court

SF School Teacher Says Bernie Sanders' Mittens Are A Symbol Of "White Privilege"

From ZeroHedge:

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Summit News,

In an article published by the San Francisco Chronicle, a public school teacher asserts that Bernie Sanders’ inauguration mittens are a symbol of “white privilege.”

The article begins with Ingrid Seyer-Ochi revealing how she conducted a lesson on the Capitol building breach, telling her high school students, “This is white supremacy.”

“Across our Zoom screen, they affirmed, with nods, thumbs-ups, and emojis of anger and frustration,” she writes.

Seyer-Ochi, a former UC Berkeley professor, then explains that she oversaw a similar study of the inauguration (why a teacher is spending so much time analyzing current affairs through her obviously demented far-left bias isn’t explained, but this is San Francisco).

“What do we see?” I asked again. We’ve been studying diversity and discrimination in the United States; my students were ready. What did they see? They saw a white man in a puffy jacket and huge mittens, distant not only in his social distancing, but in his demeanor and attire.”

She then expressed how upset she was that the next day, Bernie was “everywhere.”

“A wealthy, incredibly well-educated and -privileged white man, showing up for perhaps the most important ritual of the decade, in a puffy jacket and huge mittens.”

Still fuming at the onslaught of Bernie memes, Seyer-Ochi whines, “He manifests privilege, white privilege, male privilege and class privilege, in ways that my students could see and feel.”

“I don’t know many poor, or working class, or female, or struggling-to-be-taken-seriously folk who would show up at the inauguration of our 46th president dressed like Bernie. Unless those same folk had privilege. Which they don’t,” she concludes.

The point of her argument seems to be that Bernie didn’t try hard enough when choosing his attire, therefore disrespected “diversity” and is therefore exhibiting “white privilege.”

Utterly demented and perhaps peak ‘performative woke’.

And remember, this individual is teaching your kids.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, the San Francisco Unified School District Arts Department has announced that “acronyms are a symptom of white supremacy culture” because non-English speakers find them hard to understand.

The department responded by changing its name from “VAPA”, short for “Visual and Performing Arts’, to SFUSD Arts Department – which is still an acronym.

You’d think they’d all have bigger problems to worry about…

South Florida congressmen get vote to oust Marjorie Taylor Greene from House panels

Two South Florida Democrats on Wednesday upped the pressure on far right Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene by procuring a U.S. House vote to oust her from congressional committees.

"We wouldn't be here if Republican leadership hadn't rewarded Rep. Greene with seats on the Budget and Education and Labor committees," said U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton.

Deutch and fellow South Florida congressional Democrat Debbie Wasserman Schultz have led the charge to oust Greene from key House committees. Weston's Wasserman Schultz, like Deutch, represents portions of Broward County, home to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

"I have cried with the families of Parkland," Deutch said in reference to the 2018 mass shooting at the high school, which Greene has denigrated by calling it a "false flag" event. "I have grieved with the families of Parkland."

Sandy Weidner vs. City of Racine

From Racine County Corruption:

ILLUMINATING HIDDEN TRUTHS

Racine County Circuit Court case # 17CV1644

Sandy Weidner vs. City of Racine

The failure of the court's decision to only allow the City's Power Point Presentation "For Attorney's Eyes Only" has become grossly evident.

This is a court case that initially turned south when Judge Gasiorkiewicz denied Plaintiff's rights to amend her complaint within 6 months.

Eugene Gasiorkiewicz then created the illegal secret court and ordered court documents concerning a Power Point Presentation "For Attorney Eyes Only" claiming the entire presentation as attorney work privilege.

Court records reveal City of Racine Attorney Scott Letenney and Michael Cohen have unscrupulously filed multiple different PowerPoint presentations for the court's review while asserting they are all original files presented to the city's Executive Committee meeting......

It appears that Attorney Cohen and Scott Letteney has committed Fraud Upon the Court by filing numerous PowerPoint presentations that are not accurate filings of the actual PowerPoint presentation to the Executive Committee.

Heavily redacted emails between Cohen and Sandy's attorney Mark Hinkston confirms different versions of the Power Point Presentation were submitted into court records by the City of Racine.
Attorney Michael Cohen

Michael Cohen attempts to minimize his failures by stating: "The differences in the two versions of the PowerPoints are very minor and do not affect the summary judgment decision".

We at RCC disagree with Mr. Cohen because veracity does matter within a legitimate court.

Which begs the questions:
Which affidavits of Michael Cohen's are true?

Within this case no affidavits can now be trusted from
City of Racine Attorneys !

Further the court had concealed from public view an 18 page Plaintiff's Brief filed on January 12th.  The court file was hidden from the public on WCCA records and only made known today after RCC had made inquires into the existence of the document.
WTF?

The first $100 dollar question is:
Why would this court continue to conceal court documents from the public?

The second $100 dollar question is:
Why would attorney Cohen file an affidavit indicating his filings lack veracity?

The insanity of this case continues.
