McDonald’s has become the latest company to be hit by a data breach after unauthorized activity on its network exposed the personal data of some customers in South Korea and Taiwan.
McDonald’s Corp. said Friday that it quickly identified and contained the incident and that a thorough investigation was done.
“While we were able to close off access quickly after identification, our investigation has determined that a small number of files were accessed, some of which contained personal data,” the burger chain said.
McDonald’s said its investigation determined that only South Korea and Taiwan had customer personal data accessed, and that they would be taking steps to notify regulators and also the customers who may be impacted. No customer payment information was exposed.
McDonald’s said it will look at the investigation’s findings, coupled with input from security resources, to identify ways to further enhance its existing security measures.
Businesses across various sectors are being targeted by cybercriminals, including some very high profile cases in recent weeks. On Wednesday, JBS SA, the world’s largest meat processing company, revealed that it had paid the equivalent of $11 million to hackers who broke into its computer system last month.
And Colonial Pipeline, which transports about half of thec fuel consumed on the East Coast, last month paid a ransom of 75 bitcoin — then valued at roughly $4.4 million — in hopes of getting its system back online. On Monday the Justice Department announced that it had recovered most of the ransom payment.

With pent-up travel demand and stimulus money available, gas prices hit $3 in southeast Wisconsin
Gas prices in southeastern Wisconsin have hit $3 a gallon, the latest reflection of pent-up interest in traveling after more than a year of being cooped up because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha counties all recorded average prices of $3 a gallon for regular gas on Friday, according to the American Automobile Association. That's about eight to nine cents more than a week ago.
Across Wisconsin, the average was $2.92, which is three to four cents more than the previous week’s average. A year ago, the average gallon of regular gas cost $2.04 in Wisconsin.
Gas industry experts say the prices reflect the reopening of the U.S. economy and ramping up of summertime travel.
“Economic gains are filtering down into increased gasoline consumption as people hit the road for vacation. It’s a whole lot of pent-up demand,” said Jim Ritterbusch, president of Ritterbusch and Associates, an oil trading and advisory firm.

Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson suspended for a week from YouTube after Milwaukee Press Club event
A Milwaukee Press Club event has landed Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson in hot water with YouTube.
On Friday, Johnson was slapped with a one-week suspension from uploading videos to YouTube after the company said he violated the website's COVID-19 "medical misinformation policies."
A YouTube spokesperson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and other outlets Friday: "We removed the video in accordance with our COVID-19 medical misinformation policies, which don’t allow content that encourages people to use Hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin to treat or prevent the virus."
According to a copy of its policy statement: "YouTube doesn't allow content that spreads medical misinformation that contradicts local health authorities’ or the World Health Organization’s (WHO) medical information about COVID-19."
Johnson's office said the comments were flagged from his Milwaukee Press Club appearance on June 3, in which he criticized the Trump and Biden administrations for "not only ignoring but working against robust research (on) the use of cheap, generic drugs to be repurposed for early treatment of COVID.

Local activist groups say Malcolm James was bullied in the Racine County Jail for having a 'soft voice'
They're accusing the staff of bullying 27-year-old Malcolm James for not being "masculine enough." James is one of two recent deaths there.
"We just feel that, you know, everyone has the right to exist in the sphere that they feel fit," Dan Seaver said. He is the president of Kenosha Pride.
He says staff harassed and bullied James because of his "soft voice."
"To me that's a sign of toxic masculinity," Seaver said.
"Nothing but being a being a big man who is a big teddy bear, and out of fear, they bring in a group of people," Kevin O' Connor said. He is the families' attorney.
James was arrested Saturday, May 29. He was placed on suicide watch due to his previous attempt. Jail staff says they tried to stop him from hurting himself. He then experienced a medical event that led him to be unresponsive.
"He was actively in crisis when he passed away. To throw that fuel on the flame of harassment and bullying, that doesn't calm a mental health crisis," Seaver said.
Twenty-two-year-old Ronquale Ditello Scott Jr. died in the Racine County Jail during the same week. Nursing staff says hours after his arrest he was yellow in color and not breathing.
"There's absolutely issue within that jail that allowed two people pass away within days of each other," Seaver said.
People gathered at the Racine County Courthouse Friday, June 11. They're asking for all evidence to be released and a thorough investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
"We're not playing, we're going to continue to be out here, we're going to continue to stand behind the families," Xavier Simmons said. He is a the co-founder of Change is Coming.
"I want to see the faces of the people who murdered my son," Sherry James said. She is James' mother.
The groups are asking the Wisconsin DOJ and the U.S. Department of Justice to open a civil rights investigation about the allegations.
Nancy Pelosi is Shilling for Jews Again, Attacking Ilhan Omar
Nancy Pelosi is going to have to explain why she loves the baby-killing Jews.
She also needs to explain how Israel is a “democracy” when it doesn’t have mass immigration. I thought “mass immigration” was the definition of “democracy”?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that she welcomed a clarification from Rep. Ilhan Omar over a tweet about Israel that critics on both sides of the aisle said had unfairly compared the U.S. and Israel to terrorist groups.
In a written statement, Pelosi, D-Calif., said that “drawing false equivalencies between democracies like the U.S. and Israel and groups that engage in terrorism like Hamas and the Taliban foments prejudice and undermines peace and security for all.
“We welcome the clarification by Congresswoman Omar that there is no moral equivalency between the U.S. and Israel and Hamas and the Taliban,” Pelosi continued.
Jewish lawmakers criticized Omar, D-Minn., for the tweet she posted Monday showing a video of her questioning Secretary of State Antony Blinken about how domestic courts can handle war crimes. Accompanying the clip, Omar added a message that read, “We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban. I asked [Blinken] where people are supposed to go for justice.”

Teen couple charged with killing girl’s dad laughed about ‘murder’ in deranged video
A teenage girl and her boyfriend charged with killing her father in Las Vegas laughed about “murdering somebody” and then having lots of sex in a deranged cellphone video they recorded while still on the lam.
The shocking footage, obtained by KLAS, is being used by prosecutors as evidence against Aaron Guerrero, 18, and his 16-year-old girlfriend, Sierra Halseth, the daughter of a former Nevada state senator.
“Welcome back to our YouTube channel … Day 3 after murdering somebody …,” Guerrero, with a smirk on his face, says into the camera.
“Whoa! Don’t put that on camera,” Halseth replies while giggling.
“It was worth it,” Guerrero adds before pecking his girlfriend on the forehead.
The teen girl then brags how they “had sex a lot today,” which her boyfriend mumbles was “payment for doing it.”
He then softly slapped her face and put his hand around her throat, with Halseth pretending to choke before finally looking at the camera with her eyes wide, saying casually, “So, yeah.”

I Would Never Advise Anyone to Invest in Bitcoin
I give a lot of health and fitness advice. In fact, I’m working on a big diet article, which will be an update of my previous work in the field. There is nothing more joyful to me than hearing from readers who have lost weight using my programs.
I also advise people to become more religious and more spiritual, and to form a real relationship with Jesus Christ.
I advise people to show self-respect by wearing nice clothes and engaging in good hygiene and grooming.
I advise people to stay away from drugs – especially marijuana, opioids and other dangerous and addictive drugs, but also relatively harmless drugs like cocaine. I also advise people to be reasonable with their alcohol intake, while avoiding the Alcoholics Anonymous cult (“alcoholism” is not a disease, it is a behavior pattern).
I advise people not to listen to depressing music, and instead choose Motown, video game soundtracks or classical music.
I advise people against trusting women, and to never “fall in love,” and always be ten steps ahead of any bitch you are sexually involved with, ready to drop her at a moment’s notice. I advise that men keep all of their money secret, and always have a clear exit strategy for when things go south (and they will always go south, because women love destroying families).
While watching that bitch like a hawk and being ready to dip, I also advise people to be fruitful and multiply. Figure out ways that you can keep your children and protect them when that bitch eventually decides to dynamite your life. Don’t kill her – it’s not worth the prison time, which will ruin your children – instead figure out ways to manipulate her into killing herself or doing things that will cause the court to side with you.
I advise people to forgive their mothers and work through any anger issues they might have, because anger is a feminine and pathetic emotion carried by low quality men who lack self-control.
I advise people to never talk to the feds, under any circumstances, no matter what.
I advise people not to be openly and publicly involved with far-right politics, and to instead work within the framework of local politics without going full Nazi.
Above all, I advise people to move out of the cities.
The one thing I will never give is financial advice.

Wisconsin Senate votes to ban police chokeholds
The Wisconsin Senate has voted to prohibit police from using chokeholds, except in life-threatening situations or to defend themselves
Scott Bauer - staff, AP |
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Senate on Wednesday passed a bill that would prohibit police from using chokeholds, except in life-threatening situations or to defend themselves, while also approving a measure that attempts to stop the defunding of police.
The chokehold measure is one in a series of police reform bills making their way through the Wisconsin Legislature a year after George Floyd's death in Minneapolis. Floyd, who was Black, died after white police Officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into his neck for 9 minutes, 29 seconds. Chauvin lost his job and was found guilty of murder. Numerous other shootings of Black people by white police officers across the country, including in Wisconsin, have placed greater attention on policing policies and accelerated calls for change.
Under the bill approved on a voice vote Wednesday, police departments in Wisconsin would be barred from authorizing chokeholds in their policies detailing how and when force can be used. Critics say there should be no exception for officers to use chokeholds, even in self defense as the bill allows. But supporters say the exception is reasonable and that the bill would all-but eliminate the use of chokeholds.
Many Wisconsin police departments have already enacted similar policies, including Milwaukee which has no exceptions, and chokeholds are not taught as a compliance technique during law enforcement training. However, backers of the bill say explicitly banning them statewide would be another step toward ensuring they are not used.
Following Floyd’s death last year, Democratic Gov. Tony Evers proposed an outright ban on chokeholds in all instances. Evers took a softer approach in April, more in line with the bill, ordering the Wisconsin State Patrol and other state law enforcement agencies to update their use of force policies to prohibit chokeholds, unless as a last resort.
Families of men who died in custody of Racine County Jail demand transparenc
NOW: Families of men who died in custody of Racine County Jail demand transparency
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two men died in the Racine County Jail just days apart, and now their families are demanding answers about their deaths.
Wednesday afternoon, June 9, a rally outside the Racine County courthouse brought the families and community activists together.
The pregnant fiancé of one of the men, and the mother of another, gave emotional pleas for answers.
They want to know how Malcolm James and Ronquale Scott died in custody just days apart.
"I want you all to know my son Malcolm mattered to me," said mother Sherry James. "I loved him dearly and I miss him so much."
The mother of 27-year-old Malcolm James says her son called 911 for help and ended up dying in the jail.
His death happened just days after the death of 22-year-old Ronquale Ditello Scott Jr. in the same jail.
No cause of death for either man has been released.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation, but the families and activists say they don't want that.
They're calling for the Department of Justice to take over the case, and they want all evidence made public immediately.
"We are demanding that the Racine County Sheriff's Department, that they quickly hand over video footage, that they hand over reports, that they hand over every piece of evidence and that they would do a formal communication with these families," said Kelly Scroggins-Powell, executive director of Racine Women for Racial Justice.
In a statement Wednesday afternoon, the Racine County Sheriff's Office said they are awaiting the final results of the autopsies and the conclusion of the investigation by the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office.
They add when it's appropriate, Sheriff Christopher Schmaling will speak.
The sheriff asks for patience and peace during these sensitive times.
