Tesla's move to Texas came after California legislator tweeted 'f-k Elon Musk'

Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed Friday that his company’s move to Texas was, in part, inspired by a California lawmaker's incendiary tweet to him.
The tweet in question? “F—k Elon Musk,” from progressive California Assemblywoman Lorena S. Gonzalez.
Musk's confirmation came in response to a fawning Tesla blog post, claiming that “Musk selflessly tried to resist the actions of the government” by reopening a Fremont factory in violation of Alameda County’s COVID-19 precautions in 2020. For context, Musk sued the county over the stay-at-home order that shut down the company's factory, and dropped the suit 11 days later.
The Tesla fan blog — headlined "Tesla Moved its HQ to Texas Following Explicit Offer from California Assemblywoman" — calls out Gonzalez for tweeting out an expletive to Musk, saying the tweet "indicates serious problems in the apparatus of the state."
Musk tweeted, in response to the article and its headline, “Exactly.”
Gonzalez was nonplussed, tweeting that the CEO “makes too much of his money from taxpayer subsidies in CA to pull out." This comment is in reference to the fact that Tesla will keep its California factories.
“And, yes, he’s still awful,” she added on Twitter. “Worth $200 billion & left his janitors hanging during the pandemic.”
She later tweeted screenshots of her being harassed on Twitter and Instagram by Tesla enthusiasts.
In a press conference that took place in Oakland Friday, in which he praised Musk for "his entrepreneurial spirit," California Gov. Gavin Newsom chimed in on Gonzalez’s comment.
“I receive tweets like that probably on an hourly basis and I’m staying here and I love this state,” Newsom said, per Politico reporter Jeremy B. White. And, for what it's worth, Newsom also defended the state's tax for businesses like Tesla.

Jacob Blake shooting: Federal officials will not charge Kenosha police officer
WASHINGTON - Federal prosecutors announced Friday that they won’t file charges against a white police officer who shot Jacob Blake in Wisconsin last year.
Officer Rusten Sheskey shot Blake, who is Black, during a domestic disturbance in Kenosha in August 2020. The shooting left Blake paralyzed from the waist down and sparked several nights of protests. An Illinois man shot three people, killing two of them, during one of the demonstrations.
State prosecutors decided not to file charges against Sheskey in January after video showed that Blake had been armed with a knife.
The U.S. Department of Justice launched its own investigation days after the shooting. The agency announced Friday that it won’t pursue charges against Sheskey either, saying there’s not enough evidence to prove he used excessive force or violated Blake's federal rights.

Gableman made the comments in a radio interview, but quickly retracted the comparison after the host called it a “pretty strong comparison.” Democratic state Rep. Lisa Subeck, who is Jewish, said Gableman should resign or be fired.

Mount Pleasant couple robbed, suspects posed as We Energies workers
MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. - Mount Pleasant police are investigating a robbery near S. Green Bay Road and Larchmont Drive in which the suspects posed as We Energies workers.
A news release says the crime took place on Wednesday evening, Oct. 6. The victims told officers men arrived at their residence in an older white pick-up truck where they posed as We Energies workers. They were wearing work clothes and had COVID-type masks on. The men indicated they were there to check the trees' interference with the power lines. Officials say this was a ruse to lure the couple into the backyard.
The couple challenged the men as to where their identification badges were showing a face and employment. The suspects were not wearing IDs – and stated they were "subcontractors" with Asplundh. Officials say when the couple was in the backyard with one male, the other was going through their property and stole approximately $400 cash.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department confirmed no We Energies employees or subcontractors were in the area.
Officials want to make sure the public is aware of this Incident as this poses a safety concern for residents. The Department wants to remind citizens to ensure to not let anyone into your home who claims to be from a business without proper identification.
If there are any questions or suspicions, officials recommend that people reach out to the business the persons claim to be associated with or contact the police for an officer to respond.

Students demand Racine Lutheran HS address racist incidents, make school more inclusive
"They've been subjected to hate, discrimination"
RACINE — Black and Latino students say they've been harassed, dehumanized, and met with hate at Racine Lutheran High School. And now they're saying enough is enough.
"We are going to be here until this gets straightened out, and we're not going anywhere," said Forward Latino National President, Darryl Morin.
A call for action has been made at Racine Lutheran High School. Students are demanding that administrators acknowledge and address incidents that they feel have been targeted towards certain groups.
"A swastika was etched into a door there yesterday," said Morin.
"People call me African or say African sounds as I walk into a room," said senior, Lenya Cadd.
Students at Racine Lutheran say they've been dealing with incidents like these for years.
They allege that classmates have been seen wearing t-shirts with the words 'Trump's wall' on the front, and they say racial slurs were etched onto bathroom stalls just this past week.
But when they bring up their concerns, they feel those concerns fall on deaf ears.
"We have been telling the principal and the dean, but they've never really done anything about it," said senior, Serenity Ford.
"We reached out a hand to the school leadership, we tried to work with him collaboratively, only to learn that everything they told us was false," said Morin.
Which is why on Thursday, community leaders, students, and parents came together to put pressure on the administration to adhere to and implement their solutions to make the school more inclusive.
That includes creating a plan for greater diversity among staff and creating an anti-bias awareness program.
"We will do whatever is necessary to rid our community of these acts of discrimination toward our children," said NAACP Racine Chapter President, Dwight Mosby.
"They've been subjected to hate, discrimination, etc., not just by the students but sometimes by the faculty and administration as well," said Morin.
TMJ4 reached out to Racine Lutheran for comment on these accusations, but has yet to hear back.

Court records: Police bust massive marijuana farm in Franklin, Wis.
FRANKLIN — Franklin Police are looking into what they are calling a large marijuana grow operation in the city limits. Court documents show confidential informants tipped off police back in August, and they applied for and were granted a search warrant by Milwaukee County Courts.
The informants told police there were thousands of marijuana plants in greenhouses and that the odor of marijuana was strong. Police officers say they observed the same when they were on an adjoining property.
The search warrant was carried out back on Sept. 1, and court documents list “drugs” being removed from the site. Franklin Mayor Steve Olson says this was a large marijuana grow, especially within the confines of a city.
“I was astonished when I found out the extent of the grow operation. This is not your college roommate’s basement grow operation. This was a manufacturing operation that was doing it for lots of profit and a lot of plants,” said Olson.
The owner of the property says he was leasing it to a grow operation for hemp. He told TMJ4 News Reporter Tom Durian that the grow was hemp, but that it got too strong. The court documents specify “drugs” were removed from the premises but do not specify the amount of THC, or chemical responsible for marijuana’s psychological effects - which in Wisconsin is limited to 0.3%.
No formal charges have been filed in the case. The District Attorney’s office says they are waiting for the final report and recommendation from police. Mayor Olson believes that his department has already fulfilled its duty. “We have the evidence, we have the documentation, we’re ready to go all we need is the DA to prosecute,” said Olson.
Wednesday, local law enforcement and the state’s Department of Agriculture pulled the plants and whatever is left is expected to be burned.
Shooter who wounded US Marshal in Racine took his own life, officials say
RACINE — The U.S. Marshals Service says a person who shot and injured a federal agent in Racine Wednesday morning has taken his own life.
A statement from the federal agency said "members of the task force did not fire, but the subject apparently took his own life.”
The Racine Police Department said in a statement that Racine police officers and US Marshals agents attempted to serve a search warrant at a home at 3722 Clairmont Street. They were seeking a person wanted for charges including aggravated assault and weapons violations.
Racine police said when law enforcement attempted to contact the person at the door of the home, officers were fired upon from within the home. That is when a federal agent was hit by gunfire, police said.
Police also say law enforcement did not return fire.
Negotiations began, in which several children and adults left the home. After negotiations had ended, officers entered the home and found the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The injured agent is in stable condition, police said.
People who live within a three-mile radius of the standoff received an emergency alert to stay in their homes.
Witnesses describe seeing the huge police presence overtake the area.
"All of the sudden we saw officers in all black jump a fence to get closer to the house," said Erna Sabic. "Then, we saw them throw something to break a window. I think it was a smoke bomb, because we saw smoke and heard loud bangs. We couldn't see anything through the smoke, all we could hear were the police radios."
Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are urged to call the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at (262) 635-7756. Those who wish to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers by phone at (262) 636-9330, or through the Crime Stoppers app by using the p3 app.
Police sent out a mobile push alert asking those in the area of 3720 Clairmont Street to remain inside until the situation is resolved.
