RACINE — A Racine man has been accused of possessing child pornography after investigators with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office linked a cyber tip to his address in the 3600 block of Pierce Boulevard.
Dimas De Leon was charged Friday with 10 counts of possessing child pornography. Each count, if convicted, carries a fine up to $100,000, a prison sentence up to 25 years, or both. The court can also impose a $500 surcharge for each image or copy of an image recovered.
De Leon was the fourth individual charged with possessing child pornography in Racine County in September, according to data collected by The Journal Times. Three individuals were similarly charged in August.
According to the criminal complaint, RCSO was assigned a cyber tip by the state DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation. Snapchat originally reported the tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Sept. 11, 2023, after a user reportedly uploaded an image depicting child pornography.
Investigators linked the upload to an IP address and email account associated with De Leon. He allegedly was found to be in possession of 44 illegal videos.
De Leon’s preliminary hearing in the Racine County Courthouse is scheduled for Oct. 3.
