Do you need your voter registration card to vote in Wisconsin?
No, you do not need to bring your voter registration card to vote.
But you do need to bring a current photo ID. The WEC says acceptable forms of photo ID include:
- Driver’s license or ID issued by the Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles
- Receipt issued by the DMV if your new driver’s license or ID doesn’t arrive by Election Day
- Passport
- Military and Veteran Affairs ID card
- Tribal ID card
- U.S. Certificate of Naturalization issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
- Student ID card
If your Certificate of Naturalization is issued more than two years prior to an election, you need to bring another form of photo ID, according to the WEC.

If you need to register to vote, you will also need to bring a proof of residence. More information on documents needed for voter registration can be found here.
Can you vote early anywhere in your county?

Your polling place on Election Day is determined by your address, but you can go to any early voting site as long as it's in your municipality, meaning the city, town or village you live in.
Similarly, absentee drop boxes can only accept ballots from voters who reside in the municipality. For example, someone living in Greenfield couldn’t submit a ballot at a Milwaukee drop box.
