The Physics of Santa
I know we have all seen variations on this over the year...so here is mine (yes, that is me narrating). In addition to the traditional classical physics interpretation of Santa, I go into the implications of applying the theory of quantum mechanics to his journey which just might keep St. Nick from meeting his untimely end on his journey...
Well, duh, of course Santa is a macroscopic quantum object, as are the reindeer and sleigh. As a child, I, too, was told that I couldn't wait up to see Santa or he wouldn't come. It's just common sense.
I like the quantum spin. Makes perfect sense. The best answer when kids ask too many questions is.... It is magic.
I morphed into the Easter Bunny one time. I fell asleep on the couch exhausted, waiting for the little ones to settle down to sleep. Woke up about 2 am, foggy headed, and went to bed. I didn't make up the baskets.
The older ones woke first in the morning. Came and shook me... "Mom, the Easter Bunny didn't come."
I sent them off to their room with a very poor bluff and proceeded to dispense the candy. Do you know how much noise M&M's make when they hit the bottom of a glass bowl? :O They never let me forget that one!
