This week has been a blur to me, primarily because I've had to spend so much time on repairing my main computer. It still needs a lot of work (and, for technical reasons, I may start the process all over again). In feverishly trying to reinstall everything while worrying about this site and missing out on the news at other sites, I was running back and forth between the computer I was working on and the spare one I was using to keep an eye on the net. Whenever I glanced at this site, it looked impressive to me. The page is attractive. The content is funny, sad, informative, helpful, interesting, and inspiring. The people are wonderful.
When this site started, I wasn't at all sure that we would survive a couple of weeks, let alone a few months. I mean, we're not paid, and antipathy towards our former site is hardly enough glue to hold us together, nor are we the type of people who want to be bound only by a mutual resentment. Somehow, though, we seem to have found a niche. Caring, talented people coming together online, and in person, to enjoy banter and thoughts about our lives in and around Racine, Wisconsin, all the way out to the furthest reaches of the universe (thanks, Hale).
I'm very proud to be a part of this site and to know people like my fellow Irregulars. Thank you all, thank you very much.

Thanks for the blog orbs. I couldn't agree more with what you said. The only omission I can see if the word intelligent. I am always impressed with the irregulars. I am impressed with the depth, the caring, the civility. I learn something new from all of you. You keep me current, you keep me on my toes.
You are family....
So someone tell logjam to stop hogging the crayons, tell AA to quit poking me, and tell SER to stop emitting those gaseous smells... or I'm telling lizardMOM
LizardMOM always liked you best.
Someone once said"you get to pick your friends but you can't pick your family"....I couldn't have picked better friends that have become FAMILY..........
I couldn't agree more with you guys. This is a great group of people...some of us are at distances, but you keep us current what is happening back there in the cold country.
And Hale, I want to express gratitude for your explanation of the Northern Lights. I think I have it down pat. Molecules and Atoms having sex and creating funny colored gases. Yep, that's the explanation I gave my student today!
kk, don't let LM's partiality bug you. I made you your own pie...
And, Abby, I knew I could get you to drink your wine without ICE. Don't let that country club take credit for that one!
Seriously, though, this is a very considerate, thoughful group who stand by you through some of the hard times as well as the good.
ok you guys, play nice or you're grounded :) Don't tell me I'm the mom of the site now... yikes, I have enough gray hairs!
I have to completely agree with Orbs and kk that I didn't know what to expect going into this, I don't think any of us did, but we jelled well as a group, we get along, we don't attack each other and the best part, we've had the chance to meet each other and actualy get to really know each other.
When somebody is sick, or hurt or going thru something, right away the family rallies and supports those in need, it's the most incredible group I've ever been a part of - group hug!!!
ps Orbs, I don't play favorites, I'm MEAN to everybody - just ask MY kids :)~
she's right...at work, at home, just about anywhere... :P
What makes us unique is that we all have our own biases, likes dislikes and button-pushing issues, and we all know what they are. But yet in the midst of everything, we argue, laugh, cry, jam, rock out, think, pray and care. Not bad for a bunch of pissed off bloggers who just wernt gonna take it anymore. If it wasn't for the JT censorship, this would not be happening. So I guess we should thank Rob Golub. (We know you guys read us, so thanks!)
Now I really need to attend a gathering.......
It's nice to meet the people behind the avatars, but you don't HAVE to in order to join in. Everyone is welcome. You don't have to stop blogging at other sites, either, or renounce your membership in right, left, or middle-of-the-road political parties.
You just gotta be a little weird . . . Some of us, of course, over-qualify in that regard.
Hey KK, I'm not touching you! I'm not touching you!
Thanks for getting this place going Orbs!
I'm truely honored to be a part of this irregular family. I've made some great friends, had some good laughs, and learned some new things along the way. Here there is mutual respect for one anonther. Here we care about each other. And this is what makes this place so special. This is HOME.
And Stu,I told you so:)
Hey guys, I 'almost' know Stu. I know his wife, ergo, I must know him! Nah, never met the guy..
Am I missing something here?
Drew...home is where you fall...
AA...the little pervert can’t keep his hands to himself.
Orbs...he won’t share what ever he is on and it’s gotta be some good shit.
Abby...she don’t know if she should drink beer or wine with ice just to piss Beejay off.
Lizardmom...now there’s a sick lady...no for real, and you thought I meant it in a bad way. Got ya on that one!
Frog-lover...she’s taking a beating from lizardmom because Orbs won’t cut lose and help lizardmom out.
WackoStu...with a name like Wacko and running for a political office, well what do you expect...it is America!
DogAddict... Thanks for getting this place going...Talk about suck’in up...gezzzz.
KK...she is a little cutie hiding behind her sunglasses.
HaleBobb...He was nice, took us all for a tour when we were on a buss trip.
The list goes on and on and on....even from out of town and overseas.
AND I AM DAMN PROOD TO BE PART OF IT!!!
Geez, Orbs, what's the hold up?
*sticks tongue out at SER*
Hey, I did not get this place going. It was a team effort. At the time, I was entertaining myself with my own forum. Some other people were talking about starting an alternative site to the local newspaper's. We got together and discussed it. The rest is history, or maybe hearsay.
Everyone here contributes, even those who just read. They generate hits, which motivates us to post more because we know our blogs and comments are being read.
Thank you everybody.
I was traveling when JTI started...kk sent me a message. I had kind of sensed it was time that something might happen and was happy to get the invitation and happy to be here.
Coming up on 1,000 posts soon!
And Hale, you are making me a more intelligent human being with your blogs on the universe. I promise to read everyone of them. The scary thing is some of them are starting to make sense to me. I can no longer wish up a 'star.' Now I have to know the name of the name thing, its constellation. Oh boy. I'm getting me a telescope!
Orbs, nobody is naming any names... if the ship sinks, we all jump off...
A funny thing happened yesterday. I had my screen open at work and one of my young adults said, "hey, you reading the JTI?" I was shocked. I guess I shouldn't be when I see the numbers that we are generating.
And... AA, you poke me one more time and I'm tackling you!
kk, you get a taser and handle that AA! Of all the nerve....
Yeah? I dare ya!
kk, I'll send you a snake for AA! Maybe an electric eel would be appropriate.
You can pick your noses, you can pick your seat, you can pick apples. But this group is the best pickin' there is. I too am amazed at not only how long we have been doing this, but the recognition we have received. I mean people are taking us seriously.
I think this community is awesome. JTI is an awesome alternative to the Main Stream Media blogs, the group is friendly, the content is mature and we love the fact we have made some new friends! I know first hand how hard it is to maintain any type of news based site, in the beginning it was just an idea! Now that we got our name out Racine News has become quite the part time job. It is with the help of others that we are able to provide the information, it is the response from friends like you guys that drive us to excel!
when this started I never thought I would be attending city meetings, stopping at the police dept for crime reports, chasing down protest at Paul Ryan's office and pushing to break a story before the JT! As a single parent with a full time job I found this to be a true adventure! I will enjoy watching our two community's grow over the years to come!
Joe, what you're doing is a lot harder than what we're doing. We get to sit back and wait for you to report the news, then make our comments on it.
