There must be some recent warnings that we aren't privy to.
We have been so arrogant and foolish. Other smaller countries have more security in place despite the inconvenience and cost.
We have felt immune to terrorism within our boarder for a long time. When something happens, we all act surprised. Many of the steps we have taken since 9/11 have been ineffective and just to make it look like we are being proactive.
It is way past time to take our heads out of our butts, have our government agencies communicate effectively with each other and protect us from outside threats in a much more efficient manner.
There is a name for that, kk...it is sometimes called "Security Theater".
I am, surprise, a little skeptical and wondering if we are just seeing the eight heads phenomena. The basic idea is that if you flip a coin a lot, it will come up heads eight times in a row on a surprisingly regular basis even though most people think that never happens. We also are getting increased coverage of incidents that would normally pass with much less notice so I need some harder stats before I am prone to believe anything out of the ordinary is happening.
It's getting so I look at everyone suspicious. What is this world coming to? Are we going to go around being scared all the time? Is this how it is in those war torn countries? I guess as long as it isn't in my back yard...but what if I have to take a plane somewheres? M-m-m-m-m
Hale is right.... unless something else happens I will chalk this up to increased news coverage and coincedence.
We just have to face the facts that every time an event like this occurs, new procedures will be put in place until we all calm down and figure out what to do. It is a new learning experience for us.
I fully believe we are safer than before but lets face facts, these people want to get us and at times they will. We truly are fighting an unknown enemy. We may think we know "who" they are but here in Oklahoma City, the "who" turned out to be an American.
As for the people who will feel violated by the new security machines in airports, well, if you don't like it, don't fly. I personally will have no problem with it.
I would rather have security patting my ass before I got on the plane rather than a coroner looking at my teeth after I got on it.
I have never flown and I can safely say I do not plan on ever flying, but I do feel for those that need to...
They could do the full body scan, but I wouldn't like the physical pat down.
The next time I fly, I'm gonna lay down on the conveyor belt and let them roll me through the X-ray machine.
I wore steal tip boots once on a plane.. I asked at the security check if I should take off my shoes (this was before they made you) they said no, my shoes set it off and they had to pat me down.. I would have much rather taken off my shoes.
My mom is coming to visit me in just a few days. She is flying by herself and she is really nervous. I hope the security goes well and she gets through with pleanty of time to get to her plane. We were there 3 hours in advance last time and we didnt have a whole lot of time before they started to board.
