Racine Uncovered's current Open Blog lists a number of local schools and programs that are in need and how to help. You can read it here: http://racineuncovered.org/?p=25317
The Journal Times ran a series of stories over the Thanksgiving weekend on Racine's homeless children: http://www.journaltimes.com/homelesschildren/
I did not realize how many children are relying upon schools and agencies to provide them with basic necessities beyond meals. It is a shame.

Thanks Orbs! I appreciate you posting it. I feel for these kids. They don't ask for what's been handed to them and how can we ever teach them to help others in need if they are never shown it
Please wonderful people of JTI, please crosspost this link on your facebooks, myspaces, on websites you visit, email friends and family. I had an idea but didn't know if it would work. Thanks to Dave at Dino's we can do this. I'm volunteering to waitress that night also!

I work with a lot of schools on various programs here in Tucson which has a pretty high poverty rate and it can be pretty rough at times. There are some very poor areas out on the various reservations here as well.
Here's a live link to Racine Uncovered's blog on the fundraiser at Dino's: http://racineuncovered.org/?p=25390
