Yeah, it's been Cracker Jacks for me lately. I was going down an aisle at the grocery store a couple of weeks ago when I overheard a woman say to her mother, "I wonder where the Cracker Jacks are?" Right away, I turned around and said, "I'll show you." That started me off on this binge. Now every night I have one, or two, or three boxes of Cracker Jacks. (They come in 3-packs, damn them!) You're lucky if you get one measly peanut at the bottom of a box these days, and the "prizes" have been litigated to irrelevancy
But before Cracker Jacks it was Oreos and before that it was ice cream and before that it was something else. Potato chips, ice cream, and chocolate seem to be the constants that rotate in and out of my comfort food lineup.
What about you? Do you have a favorite snack (or two) that you sinfully indulge, or are you a good American doing his/her part in the war on obesity?

Oh, another one is homemade Chex Mix, not the store bought. If it's made with the butter and all the goodies, I'll eat it till I get sick.
I hate you Orbs, I hate you!. Actually, I'm fighting my own battle. I've managed to go from a tight 42 with breathing problems, to a loose 40 and still going. I have no choice but to fight the obesity war. I love creme filled Bavarians. Piggly Wiggly has German Choc cake squares to die for. Elephant Ears, Long Johns.... I did buy a box of Drum Stick ice cream cones, but my lactose intolerance hit me hard, and I'm out of Lactaid. Even when I try to be bad, things keep me good.
Now that commercial... Channel 9 3:00PM and Pops theater with the three stooges and Bowery Boys. Ray Rayner and Chauncy the duck in the morning for cartoons and traffic report. Candy Coated popcorn, peanuts and a prize, that's what you get in cracker jacks! I might not have heard it but that song is ingrained in my in head files.
Well I'm very much fighting the battle of obesity, right now I'm winning.. Junk food as in snacks or sweets were never my vice, it was always more of Pizza or hamburgers.. I go for the indulgent and fatty meals.. I rarely eat snacks as in chips or ice cream.. but set a pizza down in front of me and well it will not be there for long.. I am really trying now, been doing good lately, hopefully I can keep it up..
I did real well for awhile, but I've slacked off and found all the weight back. It is the 3:30pm hungries that get me. Home from work, too early for dinner and I'm hungry. Chips are my nemesis. Cheese or guacamole on the side and that will add pounds on like crazy. I'm hoping if the weather ever warms up, I'll find the motivation to get out walking more again. The lack of exercise really makes a difference.
Right now Mine is Keebler cheese and peanutbutter crackers. 2 pks a night.
Right now, I'm on a seefood diet. That's right, I see food and eat it!
I have to admit that yesterday when I was running errands, I stopped by the bakery and got two brownies with chocolate icing, two banana muffins, and two bavarian creme cupcakes. Thats on top of the new creme Oreo's and the two Hershey bars I bought at the store. Gee, do you think I needed a chocolate fix?
As for Cracker Jack, the last time I had some a few months ago, there was one lousy peanut. I was truly disappointed.
BTW, the cupcakes were yummy!
I don't like chocolate and I know some people live to eat.. whereas I just eat to live. Mostly meat & potato & veggies kind of stuff, no snacks. I know I make you all sick, well I will probably be the first one to go, get hit by a truck or something. That's what healthy living does for you.
i can't make it thru a day without potato chips...
