I occasionally go to that store. I know the guy who drove the Jeep that chased down the guy on the bike. He doesn't like thieves, but I've never known him to do something like this. He must have been having a bad day. Something about this story doesn't add up, but I'm not sure if it's the incident or the story that is messed up. The story says the guy on the bike left all of the items in the store and took off. Why was he then charged with theft? Maybe we'll find out more in later stories.

I guess I have exceeded by FREE right to the JT'S online information. I couldn't read about It. Perhaps the person that chased and struck this person, didn't know he left the store empty handed?
Toad, if you know how to clear your computer's cookies, then you can log onto the JT and JS sites again. I think they give you like 5 or 6 looks, and then start asking for money. Clear your cookies and you can access them again.
Toad, gist of the story: a guy went into the old Open Pantry on Main, south of downtown. It's now called "Odd Fellows," but it's still a convenience store. This is where it gets fuzzy, but the guy claims he put a package of cigarettes in his pocket only because he had to hold two gallon containers of ice cream in his hands. He claims he was going to pay for everything. The clerk called him a thief and he left the store, leaving everything behind. He fled on a bicycle. Just as he left, the owner of the store pulled up and the clerk said the guy on the bike was a thief. The owner took after the guy and even jumped his Jeep onto the sidewalk to catch the guy. The Racine Sheriff witnessed all of this. The Jeep kept going until it crumpled the rear wheel of the bicycle.
The JT has a video interview with the guy on the bicycle online. They said that the owner of the store was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. The guy on the bike was charged with theft.
That's all I know, and that's gleaned from the Journal Times.
I wonder if he had his towel on to tight and it made him chase the bicycle
Only in Racine can you drive your car into a bike on the sidewalk and they wont release his name.
SER - What a racist comment.
