People used to make those at home with Kraft® caramel. And they still do: http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/caramel-dipped-apples-55497.aspx.

making homemade is almost easier than unwrapping those little caramels - and simple, just butter, brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla, when it hits the right temp, you're done, super good!
It's so good that this year I'm going to try making caramels to put in with the Christmas cookies, the pain in the neck part is cutting and wrapping them but I'm getting that down to a science, good stuff!

If you are jonesin for a carmel apple, go to Aldi's this week. The three pack is only $1.39. Wal-Mart wants $2.88.

I do most of my shopping at Aldi. I mostly shake my head as I walk through other stores. Their quality is #1 and you can't beat their prices. I like the minimalist spect, too. You don't have to pay for a bag boy, there is no drive up, and there are only 1 or 2 different jars of peanut butter to choose from. Why pay for superfluous services and choices?
