Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my sugars and spices!  How are you?  It got pretty warm yesterday, but it’s supposed to be cooler today.  Don’t worry.  More 60+ degree days are in the forecast.  Admittedly, Ms. OKIE and Ms. Beejay are well into their springs.  The rest of us must be tortured by winter in order to appreciate spring.  What the hell is the matter with us?  Why do we take the punishment?  We should become snowbirds.  Next winter, Ms. Beejay and Ms. OKIE, expect guests.  Lots of them.  For the whole winter.  Maybe longer.  See you then.

At least the daffodils and some tulips have bloomed.  There are many more tulips to come.  And many more other flowers to bloom.  And many more trees to leave in.  And many more shrubs to do the same.  People are mowing their lawns.  That’s a sure sign of spring.  Once again I consider ripping out all the grass around the house and replacing it with green concrete.  I know that Junior, who usually cuts the lawn, is all in favor of my idea.  Señor Zanza, not so.

Oh, come on, I’d never take out whatever turf we have.  The more organic green, from chlorophyll produced during photosynthesis, is my green.  You can’t run barefoot on hot, green concrete.  And if you fall, ouch!  You can’t even grow dandelions on concrete.  As Joni Mitchell, who either is or is not in a coma, once sang in “Big Yellow Taxi:”

“They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em”

I like the feeling of earth under my feet.  Too bad I’m getting too old, too heavy, and too self-conscious to walk around barefoot anymore.  At least, outside of my yard.  I think I broke a toe once on the grass.  It snagged on something, and the fourth toe on the left foot dragged lower than the other toes, turning purple.  I had to watch how I walked for awhile when I had on only sox or slippers.  I still snagged the toe a few more times before it finally healed.  I screamed in agony each time.  Such a small toe, but such a big pain.  Reminds me of young Junior.  No, just teasing.  Actually, I’m quite proud of him.  When you’ve gone through the things that he has, it usually leaves a negative attitude.  But Junior bounces right back up from adversity.  Maybe some of that “baby fat” is flubber.

Rev. Melvin Hargrove has been elected the head of the Racine Unified School District: http://journaltimes.com/news/local/hargrove-elected-school-board-president/article_8d168807-2072-57bc-abbb-2cf0e4b9748a.html That’s the same Rev. Hargrove who recently lost against Mr. Mayor Dickert in Racine’s mayoral election.  Out of the frying pan and into the fire, eh, Rev. Hargrove?  I wouldn’t want either job.

It bothers me that people post blogs and comments like this one by Ms. Polly Pundit: http://www.jtirregulars.com/2015/04/the-bad-news-keeps-coming.html   There’s a vague uneasiness, a malaise, which has affected our country.  Nothing seems to make sense anymore.  Nothing seems worth fighting for.  We are a land of people staring down into our gadgets while the world goes passing by.  I feel like a runaway train is headed our way, but it’s too far away to make out much now.

That’s it for this week, my dears.  I humbly thank you for visiting my place on the internet.  I love getting visitors.  The more the merrier.  Tell all your friends, Madame Zoltar® loves them.

Turn your blender into a lawn mower: MadameZoltar@jtirregulars.com

Enjoy whatever good weather we get.  It just feels better with all the snow melted.  I love the Irregulars and regulars.  I think we can love evil to death.

Attention!

God, I feel sorry for the old-timers who live here.  We get notes like this posted all over the place.  Simple stuff, like telling people not to throw trash in the hallways.  When they dropped the 55 age limit, the animals started moving in.

Someone on a bike is doing donuts in the basement parking area.  People are propping doors open that are supposed to remain shut.  I hear stereos blasting.  And on and on.  These are our "golden years."

The Bad News Keeps Coming

Where are our tax dollars really going?  Are we funding the state as we should be, or are we funding a campaign to elect a president from Wisconsin? Where is Scotty? Shaking hands in Iowa again, you say?

Let's have the real truth on how that budget you are so proud of is working for the residents of your state. Now even the wealthier cities are beginning to cry that they can't fund their school districts on the upcoming cuts to education. Our state pride of UW-Madison is buying out seasoned professors.

Where are those 250,000 jobs you promised? You are looking to outsource and sell off our clean water to private investors, our farm fields to mining and drilling, our state parks. Your representatives have pushed through legislation to allow anyone to buy a gun without a waiting period, when shootings are occurring at a record pace.

Your own party is saying enough is enough.
Our state is crashing and burning!

"Bruce Jenner: ‘For All Intents And Purposes, I Am A Woman’"

"LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former Olympian and reality star Bruce Jenner expressed Friday that’s he’s always been confused about his gender identity in a sit-down television interview amid reports that he’s transitioning into a woman.

“'I’ve been thinking about this day forever and what I should do with my life. How do I tell my story? How do I tell people what I’ve been through? And that day is today,' he said.

"The emotional interview with Diane Sawyer marked the first time the 65-year-old former U.S. track and field star addressed the rumors.

“'Bruce [is] always telling a lie. He’s lived a lie his whole life about who he is and I can’t do that anymore,' Jenner said. 'For all intents and purposes, I am a woman.'"

Ibuprofen - Killer of Kidneys

Stay away from ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Medipren, Nuprin and others).  I used to take four 200 mg. tablets twice a day.  I did that for over a decade.

So I get a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and ignore it for awhile. It backs up from my bladder into my kidneys, which caused the renal failure.  But the damage had already been done by the ibuprofen.  That's my kidney doctor's (Nephrologist) guess.  And that's why I'm slow to get back full function of the kidneys and may never have.

In the hospitl, they said my UTI was a common bug known to them.  They put me on antibiotics and it cleared up.

However, I had already damaged my kidneys.  I now have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) - Moderate.  I'm not on dialysis, yet.

If you take ibuprofen, be wary of the dosage.  My doctor said 1 tablet is the most that should be taken for a day.

Again, if you "binge" on ibuprofen, consider the risks.  I'm not trying to preach down to you; I just don't want any of my pals to end up in my situation.  In the tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous, I speak from my "experience, strength, and hope ."

"Volcano Calbuco Eruption Forces 1,500 People to Evacuate"

From Live Leak:

"Volcano Calbuco in southern Chile erupted for the first time in at least four decades on Wednesday, sending a thick plume of ash and smoke several kilometres into the sky.

"Chile's Onemi emergency office declared a red alert following the eruption, which occurred about 1,000 km south of the capital Santiago near the tourist town of Puerto Varas.

"About 1,500 people were being evacuated from the region, which is sparsely populated with just a few small communities, authorities said.

"'There are a lot of people out in the streets, many heading to the gas stations to fill up on gas,' Derek Way, a resident of Puerto Varas said."

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my dear hens and roosters!  How are you?  We’re slowly getting there, weather-wise.  There was one day that hit the high 60’s or 70.  Now we’re stuck in that 40’s rut again.  We should remember, though, that it’s still only April.  As I understand it, we go into spring with low water levels and tables, again.  Even with all this rain, we’re still low.  See for yourself:

http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/Home/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?WI

Our fabulous Green Bay Packers play their season opener on Thanksgiving evening against the Chicago Bears at Soldiers Field.  Brett Favre’s number will be retired during the game, unless it changes its mind.

Today is Earth Day.  Take time out of your day to stoop down and kiss some dirt.  Tee-hee, no, but it wouldn’t hurt to spend some time studying your habits to see where you could recycle or otherwise “Go Green.”  Even though some people supposedly own pieces of the Earth, the fact is that we’re all here temporarily and should strive to make the Earth a better place for our having been here.  Recycling products makes them cheaper in the long run.  Dialing down the amount of fertilizer that our farmers spread would be a big help with runoff issues.  Growing your own garden is fun and you get rewarded with the vegetables or fruits that you planted. There are myriad ways to “Go Green.”

Racine recently voted to allow backyard chickens.  No roosters and no more than 4 hems.  Back home, we had Romanian Red Terror chickens.  They stand about 5 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds.  They’re as good as any watchdog.  Burglars see them and decide to go elsewhere.  We had a couple in the house that were like pets.  They even ate at the table with us.  Heaven forbid that mom serve chicken.  All hell would break loose!

The big thing with Romanian Red Terror hens is obtaining their eggs.  They’re not like regular chickens where you can reach down and grab an egg or two.  Romanian Red Terror hens will fight you for their eggs.  Be sure to wear body armor and a thick helmet when you go for their eggs.  Some sort of facial covering would be good, too.  I’m thinking NFL® helmets.  Their eggs are the size of soccer balls.  No one knows what they taste like because all attempts at egg retrieval have ended in the deaths of those trying to get the eggs.

And on that note, my dears, I’m finishing off this week’s blog.  I love you all.  May you be blessed with health and love.  I have the best damn readers on the internet.

A load shared, is a load halved: MadameZoltar@jtirregulars.com

Watch out for all the people taking in the beginning of spring.  The release of their cabin fever may make them do crazy things, like ride their bicycles to and from work.  And if you hear and see a “boom car,” smash into him for me.

"Backyard chickens get green light"

From The Journal Times.com:

"RACINE — The keeping of backyard chickens is now allowed in the City of Racine.

"The City Council voted 9-5 late Monday night to approve an ordinance allowing single-family, owner-occupied households in the city to keep up to four hens, but no roosters. Renters would not be allowed to keep the birds.

"There was no discussion of the once controversial proposal, which was presented to aldermen after the council had already been meeting for three hours on a number of other high profile issues."

Chickens are gateway animals.  Pretty soon they'll lead to hard core stuff like keeping bulls and elephants in backyards.

Proof Positive of Aliens and/or the NSA Implanting Devices in U.S. Citizens

That's the crook of my right arm above.  Notice the red dot.  I went for lab work last week and they drew blood.  I know most of the people in the lab, but I didn't recognize the technician who had me.

Blood draws can be surprisingly painless, or not. When she jammed the needle into my arm, I almost cried out.  Jeez, it hurt like hell, but I hung on.  Afterwards, she showed me two small tubes of blood she had extracted.  Usually they take four or more, and I was doing tests for two doctors.

Anyway, I didn't think much of it until my arm started to hurt. The red spot in the picture has been there for almost a week. I've concluded that a device was implanted to monitor my movements.  I don't know if the technician worked for the NSA or was an alien plant, but I've seen these small metal pieces extracted from people who had contact with UFOs.  If my arm starts buzzing or lights up or something, I'm going to be pissed off.  Then I'll take an Exacto knife and cut out the device myself.

The Crescent Moon, Mars and Mercury

Mercury is starting to climb up in the western sky for a pretty good appearance and tonight the crescent Moon joined Mars in the vicinity. I managed to get a few shots. I expected Mercury to be difficult to see low in the sky, but it was much easier to find than the higher Mars. In these shots, Mars is to the the right and just below the Moon. Mercury is below Mars and just a little to the right. There are a couple of planes drifting through this part of the sky so don't be fooled by them!

"Genius Sets Rental Car On Fire After Trying To Kill Bed Bugs With Alcohol"

By PhilHaney  on Break:

"It’s safe to say that Scott Kemery is not getting back the deposit for his rental car. What is not safe is Kemery’s ideas on how you should exterminate bed bugs from said rental car. This past Tuesday the Long Island man was traveling in Eastport, New York when he noticed that his rental was infested with bed bugs. Gross!

Everyone enjoyed watching the great bed bug hunt.

"Faced with the creepy crawlers, instead of returning the car and demanding a bed bug free vehicle or risking a few bite, Kemery later told police that he knew of a brilliant method to rid the car of critters; someone had told him that dousing bed bugs with rubbing alcohol does the trick. So Kemery bought a container of rubbing alcohol, pulled into a shopping center parking lot and saturated the inside of the car with the liquid. Bet those car seats were good and squishy. Squish!

What was happening in the back seat of that car that it had bed bugs in it?

"After all of that hard work it was time for a smoke break! So while sitting inside the car he lit up a cigarette. Darwin strikes again. A fireball engulfed the car, setting it ablaze in addition to the two cars next to it. Kaboom!

"Luckily Kemery was able to escape the vehicle, but suffered first and second degree burns all over his body. He is currently at the hospital and police have not yet charged him with any crimes; I think living with his stupidity is punishment enough. The good news is I think he killed all of the bed bugs in the car.

"Another view of the fire:"

As some of you may know, I had bed bugs a little over a year ago.  I heartily endorse this method of bed bug eradication.  The only good bed bug is a dead bed bug or a crispy critter.

Four for Fridays

Hello everyone and welcome back! Crazy week to start, then it simmered down a bit.... Not bad at all. The fun part is that I got my weekend free! Anyways, your questions....

1) What did you do on your 18th birthday?

2) Do you drink bottled water?

3) What kind of birthday cards do you send to people you know? (humorous, sentimental, whatever)

4) How often are you on the computer?

Enjoy your weekend!

"Discretion, my friend"

From Knuckledraggin My Life Away:

I hate to say it, but the prospects of that marriage don't appear very good.

""'Pretty Betty' American Diner. 'Real Russia' ep.88"

Watch out, McDonald's! "Pretty Betty" American Diner could give you a run for the money.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my lads and lassies!  How are you? We’re finally inching our way up the thermometer.  It won’t be long before we’re complaining about the heat and humidity.  Life goes in cycles.  Psychos?  No, cycles.

And speaking of cycles, I’ll get in my weekly nag early about watching out for bikes and bicycles and kids.  In many collisions between bike and car, the car driver says, “I didn’t see the motorcycle.”  This, in turn, throws more fuel on the motorcycle exhaust noise controversy.  A guy pulled up next to me at a stoplight on a full dress hog.  He kept gunning the engine.  I yelled to him, “Get a Japanese bike, they idle fine.”  So he made more noise.  Sad.  I get very tired very early in the season of boom cars, motorcycles with straight pipes and/or loud stereos, and crotch rockets that curdle earwax as they scream by.  Why do these people feel that they have a right to inflict their noisy machinery upon us?  There are laws against this, but they are rarely enforced.  I guess it just comes with the territory in spring/summer/fall.

I know that today is Tax Day and I hope that none of my Irregulars gets hit too hard.  I usually get a refund. This year it was only $52.  I remember some years when I pulled in hundreds of dollars.  The world is a different place now.  I find myself competing against illegals, so-called “psychics,” who set up shop anywhere, even on a street corner, and undercut all of my prices on everything.  It’s very hard to compete when the playing field isn’t level.  I pay my taxes, but those fly-by-night operators never give a nickel to Uncle Sam.  If any of them give me any trouble, I’ll place the dreaded Curse of Zoltar® upon them.

Has anything rocked your world lately?  I feel so “blah” these days. Maybe it will disappear with warmer weather.

Señor Zanza and Junior have NOT finished spring cleaning.  Whenever I remind either of them about it, they make a half-hearted effort to pick up a few things.  Then they hope I’ll forget.  Men!  I’ll probably end up doing most of it myself.

Below is a short film/video entitled “Gift.”  It’s a Hungarian production from https://www.facebook.com/DeadLensPictures.  I’m not quite sure what to make of it.  I went to the Facebook site.  Of course, it’s Hungarian.  I used Google Translate to try to get the gist of the video.  I still don’t completely understand it.

Anyway, it seems sad and we’ve had enough of that.  All of you, Irregular or otherwise, who read my blog make my week.  I love my readers.

Hungarian in one short lesson: MadameZoltar@jtirregulars.com

Enjoy the spring, my dears.  We paid for it by enduring winter.  Get out there and sprain something.  It’s the American thing to do.

‘Free-range’ kids

This is total insane and out of control!

The Silver Spring siblings were about 2 1/2 blocks from their home Sunday when Montgomery County police got a call reporting them — gasp — playing alone.

“The police coerced our children into the back of a patrol car and kept them trapped there for three hours, without notifying us, before bringing them to the Crisis Center, and holding them there without dinner for another two and a half hours,” their mom, Danielle Meitiv, said to her Facebook friends. “We finally got home at 11 pm and the kids slept in our room because we were all exhausted and terrified.”

Click here to read the full article  Free Range Kids

This was the 2nd time someone called the police on these kids. To me it appears the same person must placing the calls to the police.

When I was 10 we went where ever we wanted, the 'rule' was, we had to be in the front yard when the streetlights came on! Rules change especially in Racine since City Hall has turned off some of the street lights.

Very interesting article to read; how crazy this country is really becoming.

The Report for after the Storm!

Yes the JTI storm reporter did her job and went out to check around how bad the storm was. I will let you know this much if we get another storm before the water has a chance to go down the Root River is going to go over and also some of the side roads out in the country. I just could not believe how much rain did come down. Then on the news they say we only got 2 1/2 inches of rain not true it was a lot more than that. I can tell by the river.

On the west side of interstate 94 got it worse then we did. Drew and I went out that way to do some birding yesterday when he got off of work. You would not believe it out there we seen small branches on the road and you could tell in spots that the water did go over the roads. I do have a picture of a farm out there too.

Here are some pictures I did take yesterday-

This is by the Root River on 5 Mile Rd in Caledonia Wi.

This is by the Root River on 5 Mile Rd in Caledonia Wi.

This is by the Great Blue Heron nests on Nicholson Rd in Caledonia Wi.

This is on the West side of Interstate 94 on 2 Mile Rd. this is the farm field.

I hope that everyone enjoys the pictures and then you know how much rain we did get.
