A 2-year-old girl was fatally shot near 106th and Daphne streets in Milwaukee Tuesday night, officials said.
A Milwaukee Fire Department medical team responded to the scene. After advanced life-saving measures by paramedics, the girl was determined deceased, fire officials said.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's office said an autopsy for the girl is scheduled for Wednesday.
In a news release, Milwaukee police said the shooting occurred at 7:23 p.m. on the 6600 block of North 105th Street and the circumstances that led to it are under investigation.

Several children have been victims of shootings this year. On May 21, a 12-year-old girl was injured by a bullet that entered her home on the north side. On June 5, a 2-year-old was hospitalized after getting hold of a gun and shooting himself.
