Today's Blind Items - More, More, More
Short and sweet. This permanent A+ list mostly movie director is bailing on a project because of news he is trying to keep under wraps. Apparently there are recordings of him interviewing young child actors and asking them wholly inappropriate questions. The recordings are from about two decades ago and are from either one or two movies filmed at around the same time. He was only the director on one of them but helped cast both.

1) Are you tired of this cold weather?
2) Are you tired of wearing layers of clothes?
3) Do you want the warm weather here already?
4) What season do you really like?
Have a great weekend!

Dear Madame Zoltar
Hello, my honeys! How are you? I'm doing well. Our weather sure has been windy. The windy winter. It's blowing a lot of cold air. If it was blowing hot air, I would suspect that Mr. Mayor Cory 'Butterball' Mason was opening his yap again. What a non-mayor. He only shows his face when there is good news and hides when there isn't. Come on out and talk to us sometime, Butterball.
The city is still suffering the effects of the ransomware attack. The city has hired extra bodies to help. Gee, do you think that's cheaper than the forty bucks it would have cost to buy some malware protection? The people in our IT department are "experts." I'll bet that Butterball wouldn't give them the $40. Oh well . . .
How about that rabies scare at the Wind Lake Volunteer Fire Department? They owe $29,000 of the $60,000 outstanding. All because they thought a woman was foaming at the mouth. Oh my. I've seen Junior work up quite a lather while brushing his teeth. If he were to suffer some sort of medical emergency while brushing, I wonder if the rescue personnel would think he's infected with rabies? I often wonder myself what has gotten into him.
Señor Zanza has been a dear, as always. I don't deserve such a kind man, but I'm glad I have him. Whenever there is snow, he cleans off my car and warms it up. How wonderful. He cleans the sidewalk and driveway. taking extra care to clear the porch and steps. I don't know what I would do without him. He is also an accomplished cook and often makes dinner for us. I'm never going to let him go.
Remember, you read it here first: the coronavirus will become a pandemic and disrupt life in the United States. The "officials" have been trying to avoid a nation-wide scare, but the facts will soon outpace them:
The other interesting thing about this pandemic is that it started in one of China's laboratories. China does all sorts of research on germ warfare and such. They created this virus and it escaped. Now the entire world will suffer because some pigs in power played their games with our lives. Seriously, there should be some way to neutralize pigs in power. A bullet to the brain is my first thought.
If you catch the coronavirus, please stay home and limit your contact with others. I'm told that the usual infection is minor, like a cold. Only in rare instances does the sickness progress to death. Take care of yourself and you should be OK.
That's it, kiddos, I'm done blabbing for the day. I love you all - every last one of you. Please share the love.

Advocate Aurora's plan to double in size is based on firm belief: Bigger is better
From JSOnline:
Guy Boulton, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Guy Boulton, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
The merger that created Advocate Aurora Health could be just the start for the health system.
Jim Skogsbergh, the CEO of Advocate Aurora, last month set out the ambitious target of increasing the health system’s revenue to $27 billion a year and more than doubling its size by 2025.
He acknowledged that the target is somewhat audacious and characterized it as aspirational.
This is idiotic. I had two surgeries last year done by Aurora in their Kenosha hospital. I left the hospital against medical advice after my last surgery. They are so short handed that my surgeon supported my decision to leave early. Their patient care is horrible. They don't have enough bodies to make good on their promises. I would NEVER recommend Aurora to anyone. They keep building. Who's going to staff those new buildings? A maintenance worker was my best help after my first surgery. Maybe they'll hire more of those . . .

Coronavirus may have leaked from China's highest biosafety lab
The coronavirus may have emerged from a Wuhan laboratory leak, which studies deadly pathogens such as the SARS virus, scientists suggest.
Health officials believe that the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), originated from wild animals sold in the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan City, which is home to 11 million residents.
Now, a team of scientists from Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of Chinese Academy of Sciences, South China Agricultural University, and Chinese Institute for Brain Research wrote in a paper published on ChinaXiv, about an alternative source of the coronavirus that is currently spreading across the globe.
The scientists say they have found genomic evidence that the seafood market is not the actual source of the outbreak. Instead, they point the source of the virus outbreak to a laboratory that studies potent viruses.
The Wuhan Virology Institute researches some of the world's most dangerous pathogens. It is China's first Biosafety Level 4 laboratory, the highest security level needed to isolate dangerous biological agents in an enclosed facility.
Flat-Earther ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes killed in crash-landing after homemade rocket launch (VIDEO)

Daredevil Flat-Earther ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes has died after launching himself into the sky in a homemade rocket. Purported video of the accident shows the fatal launch.
Hughes and a colleague built the steam-powered rocket in hopes of shooting the daredevil 5,000 feet (1.5km) into the air. The endeavor was being documented by the Science Channel, which wanted to feature him in a new series called ‘Homemade Astronauts’.
A video purportedly filmed at the site shows the rocket being launched into the sky near Barstow, California, before Hughes plunges back down to the earth.

The self-taught rocket engineer gained notoriety for his belief that the Earth is flat. However, Hughes said that his flat-Earth belief was not the primary motivator for his latest, and final, rocket test, stressing that he was simply a daredevil.
The 64-year-old first shot himself into the sky in 2014, and completed several launches. His most successful attempt took place in March 2018 when he propelled himself approximately 1,875 feet (572 meters) into the air before crashing back to Earth at around 350mph (563kph). He sustained multiple injuries from his previous flights, before ultimately succumbing to his dangerous hobby on Saturday.

Woman accused of calling 911 after parents cut off cellphone
CANTON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman was arrested for calling 911 when her parents cut off her cellphone service, authorities said.
Seloni Khetarpal was arrested Feb. 13 by Massillon police and charged with disrupting police services, a fourth-degree felony, The Canton Repository reported.
Jail records show that Khetarpal, 36, repeatedly called emergency dispatchers because her parents had terminated her cellphone service, which they paid for.
An officer contacted her and advised she call emergency services only for emergencies.
Two hours later, she called again and “was belligerent and stated she believed it to be a legitimate issue,” according to jail records.
Court records do not list an attorney who could speak on Khetarpal’s behalf.

'I see nothing good about you:' Judge sentences Franklin business owner to 72 years for the slayings of 2 employees
From JSOnline:
Elliot Hughes, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Elliot Hughes, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Former Franklin business owner Matthew Neumann defiantly maintained his innocence as he received a 72-year prison sentence Thursday for killing his two employees and burning their bodies in a firepit.
Neumann, 44, drew audible gasps and cries from the courtroom as he denied responsibility for the deaths of Robert Hajduk and Richard Conklin and casually stating his hope that the latter – whose remains have not been positively identified – is alive and well in Mexico.
“It’s unimaginable,” Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Jeffrey A. Wagner said as he handed down his sentence. “The character you have shown in this case is not human. I see nothing good about you.”
In December, Neumann was convicted of two counts each of first-degree reckless homicide and hiding a corpse in connection with the deaths of Hajduk, 40, of Racine and Conklin, 35, of Milwaukee.
The men were employed by Neumann at his commercial cleaning business, Spot Free Cleaning, in Franklin before disappearing within a day and a half of each other in early January 2019. Human remains were discovered about a week later in a firepit on hunting property Neumann leased in rural Walworth County.
Schools superintendent from Eau Claire suburb charged with sex trafficking, child pornography
From JSOnline:

The superintendent of a suburban Eau Claire school district has been charged with sex trafficking and possessing child pornography.
Daniel Peggs, 32, superintendent at the School District of Altoona, was arrested Thursday based on a two-count federal indictment returned under seal by a Madison grand jury last week.
Peggs has worked in the district since 2016, as middle school principal and district assessment coordinator before being named superintendent in July, according to his LinkedIn page.
The indictment charges that from October 2015 to May 20, 2016, Peggs "knowingly recruited, enticed, harbored, transported, and maintained by any means" a girl who was under 18, to engage in prostitution.
A second count charges that in December 2015, Peggs made an iPhone video of the same girl engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
U.S. Attorney Scott Blader indicated the girl was not a student in the Altoona district.
Joyce Orth, the district's communications coordinator, said the school board planned to meet in executive session at noon. A news conference was scheduled for 4 p.m.
Peggs was arrested Thursday morning in Altoona and made his initial appearance in Madison in federal court this afternoon before Magistrate Judge Stephen L. Crocker. He pleaded not guilty to the two charges and will remain in custody until his detention hearing Monday.
Peggs' teaching and administrator licenses are under investigation, according to Wisconsin Department of Instruction records. He holds a lifetime license to teach physics, chemistry and physical science, and he has held a license to be a principal since 2015 and a superintendent since 2017.

Customs agents find human brain in jar on Canadian mail truck headed for Kenosha
From JSOnline:
Sophie Carson, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Sophie Carson, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
It's not every day border patrol agents find a human brain in a jar aboard a Canadian mail truck on its way to Kenosha.
But that's what happened Feb. 14 at a checkpoint along the U.S.-Canada border in Port Huron, Michigan.
And although the truck's shipping manifest listed the brain as an "antique teaching specimen," the clear glass jar would never make it to a classroom. It lacked any paperwork or documentation, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Agents seized the brain and are in contact with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the agency said in a news release.
The shipment, which came from Toronto, was destined for Kenosha. It was not immediately clear where exactly the brain was from, or if it was meant to be used for educational purposes.
The agency reminded people that shipments such as human specimens require an import permit.

Foxconn plans to construct 'FoxMOD,' a structure that will house a computer server
From JSOnline:
Ricardo Torres, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
Ricardo Torres, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
MOUNT PLEASANT – Foxconn Technology Group plans to put one of its products on display for an event in the spring.
The company plans to construct a modular data center, dubbed FoxMOD, just outside its multipurpose building in Mount Pleasant. FoxMOD will house one of the servers for its dome building, which is currently under construction, so it can be viewed by prospective customers.
The FoxMOD was unanimously approved by the Mount Pleasant Plan Commission on Wednesday. It now goes to the full Village Board for final approval, likely on Monday.
The structure requires approval from the village because of its size.
Claude Lois, Foxconn project director for Mount Pleasant, said the FoxMOD is roughly the size of a semi-trailer.
Plan Commission member Joe Maier called the decision to find customers for the FoxMOD unique.
Lois said the structure will be a display model and there are no plans to make it permanent.
“This is what they want to display and show the folks that are coming (to the spring event), ‘You can buy this. It’s got the chillers. It’s got everything to maintain it,’” Lois said.
The Plan Commission also approved five guard shacks to be built on other parts of the massive Foxconn property.
Until now, security guards sat in a truck or SUV at each of the entrances, but now more permanent structures are in the works.
New upscale apartments planned for downtown Kenosha

An Illinois real estate developer is confident the demand is high for luxury housing in downtown Kenosha.
Lake Terrace LLC has agreed to purchase vacant city-owned property at the southeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 59th Street and move forward with a $17 million residential development.
The five-story apartment building would include at least 63 high-end units and 75 indoor parking spots.
The $100,000 deal also includes a vacant city lot directly west of the property to be used for an additional 35 outdoor parking spaces.
The contract is expected to be finalized by the City Council on Wednesday.
“The key to this development is (the city) is not putting any money into it,” said Zohrab Khaligian, a city redevelopment specialist for Community Development. “The developer has come forward and is taking the risk. We’re encouraging it. They’re very excited about it.”
Projected monthly rent is $1,300 to $1,500 for one-bedroom units, $1,800 to $2,000 for two bedrooms and $2,300 to $2,400 for three bedrooms.
Those prices might seem affordable in comparison to Brindisi Towers, a $79.5 million apartment/condominium high-rise slated for a 1.6-acre parcel located directly north of the Kenosha Municipal Building on 52nd Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues.
Prices range from $500,000 for one-bedroom units up to $1.5 million for three-bedroom penthouse suites. Monthly apartment rent is expected to be $2,500 to $4,000.
“Brindisi Towers is kind of a different animal because they’re building up 10 stories,” Khaligian said. “(Lake Terrace) is more of a low-rise (building), but you can still see the lake, even from the first floor of this development. Basically, you have the lake right on your front door step.”
"We spend 21 million dollars (40 percent of the cost) to attract a hotel ...Kenosha gets a 17 million development with no taxpayer money involved. It's the difference in leadership in the last 30 years in Racine."
