A person needed to be airlifted to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle on a Racine County highway Wednesday night.
The incident took place shortly after 6 p.m. in the village of Rochester near intersection of State Highway 36 and County Highway J, according to the Racine County Sheriff's Office.
Initially a two-vehicle crash occurred, then one of the drivers got out of his vehicle to talk with the other driver when he was struck by vehicle traveling at highway speeds, authorities said.
The victim's condition was not available Wednesday night.
The sheriff's office said no impairment is suspected and all parties are cooperating with law enforcement. The incident is still under investigation.
